Can we close topics in this forum?

Honestly, the moment that I opened the thread I wondered why it was not unicorn feed.

For the record, I agree that one year is scientific, although I wonder if any of us have done A-B-A testing of that duration.

I am surprised that he thought that YouTube would give him credibility.

Some people believe if they repeate a lie enough times it becomes truth.

I am registered on garbageman's site and i periodically receive emails from him. This is the latest one that i got: Why do some skeptics scream their anger at us? The very people that are working for the same goals as we are accomplishing seem to be the most narrow-minded. I have been blacklisted at*Ecomodder.com *not once, but TWICE! And the Forum Owner didn't even bother telling the rest of the members posting that I was blacklisted, leaving them to think I simply vanished like a thief in the night. If any of you are members there, or wouldn't mind signing up for a bit, would you be so kind as to go there and look for Gadgetman? When you find the discussion(s) on The Groove, would you tell your side of the story? And just let the guys there know that I am for real." THIS GUY TRULY IS A WORK OF ART!!Shame on you for not telling him why he was banned! Hahaha

Banned=blacklisted. Or am I misunderstanding the situation?

anyway

If his mod works a couple tests could prove it. I would be a lot less skeptical if he would do the following rough experiment.

Using a very accurate non obdii fuel consumption meter such as an MPGuino, graduated cylinder for a fuel cell, FAA certified fuel flow meter, or the like.

Make 3 runs (with a warmed up car) (at a set speed held with cruse control) both ways down a relatively flat and straight stretch of road with an unmodified throttle body.

Record the mpg on each pass

Plop a modded TBI on the car
Make 3 more bidrectional runs. record mpg on each pass

plop the unmodded TBI back in
make 3 more runs. record mpgl on each pass

swap the modded tbi back in
make 3 more runs recording the mpg on each pass.

that's only 24 data points.

Post the raw numbers.
Along with temperature, barometric pressure, humidity and wind for each run

If the difference in averages for modified vs unmodified throttle bodies is statistically significant and shows less fuel burned with the mod kudos it works

additional considerations to insure a proper test.
The driver is given instructions on what speed to use and and where to reset the meter and take the measurement (must be the same spot on every run). The driver has no information about which TBI is installed.

I am sure that if there is a member of this forum near by they would be willing to observe/assist to insure the validity of the experiment.

If I was selling a mod that did not already have very sound scientific research backing it's reason for working this is the bare minimum of testing I would do to insure I was selling something that really works.

I think this is important. To that end it could be B-A-B.

wow.

Talk about someone who doesn't get it.

Really, how many times did we 'pause' and try to explain to him what he needed to do.

OBVIOUSLY he was reading the thread.

Re-read my post.
Buck up!
you are an embarrassment to Capitalism and Free Enterprise.
Loan YOU money!!?????
are you really an idiot?
As I so clearly stated and you have proven, you are a sallow, smooth- tongued rip-off artist.
I can assure you that "our goal in life is NOT to ferret out the failures in everything around us" however you did kinda pop up uot of somewhere ....and you are obviously a failure.....
I talked to Ron last week and ordered the package...now after reading here on ecomodder I'm wondering if I should have spent any money on it....! Really, the few of you going back and forth on the post makes me sad.

I don't understand why anybody has this form of anger towards Ron Hatton...I understand that you may not agree that he's done all of the testing that you believer that he should do however, it's no different than any other type of an EcoModd that people apply to their cars anyway (non scientifically tested).

Here's what I'm going to do. I'll start a thread with my experience including a video of my unpacking of the program and my thoughts of the process.

I have a totally unbiased opinion of the gadget groove (or whatever he calls it) so I will be the perfect test subject. I don't like negativity, from anybody...whether the person/persons are right or wrong and maybe this will help to set the record strait which ever way it goes.

Either way, with the results being favorable or not, we shall see and it will be clear to all of us whether on not Ron Hatton is a shallow, smooth-tongued rip-off artist or not.

Hopefully, if I step off the edge of the cliff (for all of you) you will be there to cordially catch me if Ron Hatton is in fact what people seem to think that he is.

To futher proove that I'm not blowing smoke, here is my personal YouTube account...http://www.youtube.com/AWorld4Change. You can see that I have nothing to do with modding in my history (my channel is very humble and not focused on fuel economy in any way) and my test subject for the groove thing will be my car, a 2005 Ford Taurus with a 3.0 V6 engine.

I will post my progress to my car on here and on my personal YouTube channel and we will figure out if this thing is something to share with the world or shut down based on experience rather than hypothetical speak.

Please let me know if there is anything that I can do to make sure that I'm articulating this properly and satisfying the needs of the community so that we all know whether or not this things works.

All the best,

Wayne, SC

Sure... Feel free to waste your own money, trying to prove that this rip-off somehow actually works.

Funny thing about us Ecomodders is, a lot of us have made dumb mistakes at one point or another. I tried to make a non-viable form of cylinder deactivation work, while others here have tried other discredited methods. Along the way, we have gained experience in what works and what doesn't. Along the way, as well, we learned a few underlying principles as to what may work and what may not. Therefore, when one of us posts in a deceptive thread, such as this one, we speak from experience.

And, if and when we seem hostile in our posts, it's because we've seen, over and over and over and over again, the same damned attempts at deceptive posting that aim only to lighten the wallets of newbs that post here. See, we think that if newbs get ripped off by one of these charlatans, and they happen to associate the charlatan with EcoModder.com, EcoModder.com might therefore gain an unfair amount of the resulting bad feelings. Therefore, we try as best we can to distance ourselves from said charlatans.

Have fun with jumping off this cliff of yours. There may be others who would catch you or console you once you crash at the bottom, but I will not be one of them. Neither, I suspect, will other veteran EcoModders who have posted here. We tried to warn you against jumping off in the first place, only to have you close your mind to us.

Do ask yourself this question as you are falling... If it really were so simple to improve the fuel economy of a gasoline engine with a throttle plate simply by machining a groove at a strategic spot in the throttle bore, then why hasn't this been done by Honda or Toyota or GM? You know, three automakers who are currently selling highly efficient cars on the market?
