On my e36 coupe, the Radio Ariel was built into the windscreen pillar- actually INSIDE the car..could you do something similar- really just a case of cutting the cable shorter and some earthing in behind a trim panel?

I'm assuming the hatch has some hinges at the top- can they be unscrewed and a thin piece of metal be inserted betwen the Glass and the hinge? means you could mount to those points, have U brackets of metal coming out, allowing you to build a frame off them? It may also mean the Kamm lifts up with the hatch and doesnt get damaged?
