Spotter, I see you are going for the P-51 look .
I think the stripes will really do this well, but still think you need some yellow and black checker pattern at the rear of the tail.

the yellow checker look might work, not sure I like it though. but it would add viability.

I could see the C piller match looking good.

how much smaller should I cut the stripes? they are 12" right now. if I went with 6" I could dot he full 5 stripes (3 white and two black) of wwII

I concur that matching the C-pillar angle might look better. It should be relatively easy to overlap the stripes and hold them in place with blue tape to see what various widths would look like. Once you cut, you're committed.

I can say that there are DEFINITELY lots of people who think "MPG Militia" is a good idea. There is more unrest out there than I thought.

I'm thinking a classification( like with ships) as in;

Aerocivic class( Everything AND the kitchen sink like Aerocivic, Aerotrix, FrankenJetta,...),

Enterprise class( Fully manufactured cars like CarBEN EV, drmiller100s' trike, KenFry's trike,...)

Other names and classes to be decided...

Cd- with the addition of the white highlights, everyone asks," What are the oil wells representing?" so I agree they are fine. Your new version would also be good.

I wandered over to volksforum.com and found this picture of a Miata in The Netherlands:


I really like the two-tone green reticulated background. It must be a vinyl wrap. If it was paint they c/would have done the rear-view mirror.

Jethro, thanks for posting the image.
I swear I see a wingless FW-109 fuselage when I look at your car !

If I may make a suggestion, I was looking at the images of your cars front end and noticed the front fenders have a very pronounced flare to the wheel arch .
This no doubt is causing quite a bit of turbulence .

Any plans to smooth this area ?

Also, I noticed the turbulence in your tuft test and my first thought was the mirror.
I then noticed you had your windows down a couple of inches.

It would be interesting to redo the test with the mirror folded back and the windows up.

Jethro, I noticed you have a hollowed out section where your plates are.
Was this intentional ?
I ask, because this actually creates a box cavity effect. ( which is a good thing )
If you ever tuft the car again, it would be interesting to see the airflow there as well .

The rear plate was another, "seems like the right thing to do." I'd never heard of the box effect. The wheel arches on front will either be fared or smoothed, I haven't decided.

Terry was trying to get me to roll up the window, but I didn't hear him. Tuft testing will happen after trip repairs.
