Charging a battery involves both a chemical reaction and electric passing through materials that aren't superconductors. Because they are not perfectly efficient, they both produce heat. Inefficiencies like these are seldom linear: the faster you do them, the more inefficient they become. More heat is produced, which makes them still more inefficient if that heat can't be removed.

I think what you're missing is that very few people can afford (or will be willing to pay, even if they could) to pay $20K or so to replace a battery pack on a regular basis.

In electrical circuits, they're called I-squared-R losses; don't remember what the chemistry equivalent "loss" name is.

It's the laws of thermodynamics, which translate to:
  • * You can't win.
    * You can't even break even.
    * You can't leave the game

But only while traveling out of town.
.
Back and forth to work is $0.12/ kWh and 4.5 miles/ kWh. And emitting 1/3 the carbon.

Doesn't temperature in the shade depend on the size of the shade?

To an architectural draftsman, shade and shadow are two different things, with two different answers.
