My brother-in-law was scheduled for his first solo flight today, so I tuned in. Didn't realize you can get radar data and ATC comms for practically anywhere.

It was too windy to solo, but I listened in as he did touch and goes and took right turns back into the downwind for short approaches.

To the west of the airport is an Airforce base, and I found it interesting to watch a Predator drone circle around it.

The curved TV fad just needed domed houses to catch on.

In my mind, the insulation and structural support should come from the same material, with other materials only used as a facade (better if the insulation and structural material is also a finished surface for a threefer).

Still waiting for LCD windows that can gradually transition from nearly 100% transparency to nearly 100% reflective. Window treatments are an ancient solution that needs to be retired.

Matching the requirement for structure and insulation might be difficult. Geoship use an inner and outer shell with trusses along the edges all of one material and insulation in the cavity.

SA talked about tent poles a bit more today. He frames it like a battle between wizards who are unseen, or forgotten in time, with ideas magically appearing within our reality. The "fine people" hoax is the example tent pole that was conjured into our minds.

I'm re-listening to the Rogan podcast with Peter Thiel.

Peter compares California to Saudi Arabia. Like Saudi Arabia it has a high GDP per capita despite dysfunctional politics/religion based on a concentration of a valuable resource. For CA, that resource is talent networks. He predicts that now that physical proximity to others is no longer a requirement to collaborate on tech projects, that talent resource will diffuse into locations other than silicon valley and CA, but it will take a while.

Peter says the linguistic tell for a pseudoscience is having to include the word science with the subject. Chemistry is a hard science because we don't have to call it "chemistry science". Biology is a hard science for the same reason. He juxtaposes those examples with "climate science" or "political science".

I wish I were quick on my feet (which is why I type instead of speak). I come up with the perfect response, and perfect joke, about 5 minutes after the conversation has moved on. There's some sort of information queuing/processing issue I've got.
