When the Other is that cold, calculating intelligence? Don't want to to go the the way.

Wasn't it the Kartoonist that was speculating about parasistes driving human behavior and therefore history? So much has happened since this morning.

My thought was remembering the reports that Ivermectin cures homosexuality.

At the moment I'm listening to Liv Boeree on Moloch, Beauty Filters, Game Theory, Institutions, and AI. It's an interesting concept: ' the race to the bottom [of the brain stem]'.

edit: The Win-win scenarios should be promoted, but her examples are CERN and the Nobel prize. 'Gee, if there were only something like an X-Prize." [/sarc]

So today he suggests that anyone in their twenties should be totally immersed in AI because of all the free money laying around because it's another First Time.

I had the same experience as he, where his first computer was an amber-screen DOS machine, mine was a 128K Macintosh with dual floppy drives. We both suffered financially to make it happen, and it changed both our lives.

[I could swap two floppies in and out with my right hand]

If you trust AI, an interesting point of contact is https://www.you-tldr.com/

His story about 'I think I should get a watch".

His story is about talking about it and AI knowing he had. The funny thing is -- I woke up this morning thinking about the same thing. About the same time his podcast was live.

Time for you to get a handsome watch to give that edge with female attraction?

I've known that women find enhanced appeal by watch wearers for some time, but not all watches are created equal. My first girlfriend asked if I wanted a watch for my birthday, and I said no. She got me one anyhow because she hated the gold Seiko watch my grandfather gave me.

I knew Apple watches were unattractive. The point isn't to have a useful device, it's to be worn as jewelry.

I got compliments on my $15 Chinese fitness tracker because it didn't look like a normal fitness tracker, and I spent $8 more to get a good looking metal band.

Insofar as I know, the Apple watch is tethered to another Apple product that I have no interest in. That ended at the iPod Touch. OTOH:

Waterproofing The Best Watch Ever Made | Hackaday
The Casio F-91W is probably the most popular wristwatch ever made. It's been in production forever, it's been worn by presidents, and according to US Army intelligence it is "the sign of...
I thought the response from the peanut gallery was that women don't react to watches.

I refuse to use an Apple watch because

a. It's too expensive,
b. battery doesn't even last 24hrs. You're supposed to charge it every night, but then how is it performing sleep tracking when it's not being worn?
c. Looks ugly
d. Will be too restricted like all Apple products

Currently wearing a Garmin Forerunner a friend gave me. It looks ok.

Attraction (like almost everything) is mostly a subconscious process. Just because women aren't aware a watch worn as jewelry on a man is contributing to their level of attraction doesn't mean it's not happening.

It would be super easy to place in the top 5% of well-presented men in the PNW because hardly anyone tries. Problem is, the women are schlubby too, and they don't want to be out-dressed by a man.

In junior college, some women said I was best-dressed. I just put a polo shirt on instead of a stained T-shirt and wore shoes that weren't sneakers... oh, and I wore a nice looking watch.

Not watches, shoes.

hackaday.com/2019/06/04/waterproofing-the-best-watch-ever-made/

Disassemble the watch and reassemble it submerged in mineral oil and it's waterproof to 700 meters/1200PSI.

That's the trick deep divers use on their computers, especially those using rebreathers where the computers control the injection of O2.

I learned about that somewhere around when I discovered the last dive of David Shaw.

Somewhere down that rabbit hole someone said if you're 700 meters down not having watch isn't your first problem. Au contraire, if you don't want the bends you time the ascent.

[didn't watch the video, don't know if he got the bends]
