My father has a 200 or so gallon gray water tank that was used for sheep at one point in time... it was also used as a rain water collector that had a gravity fed line running to a ~50 gallon drinking station for sheep and goats.

The water collector for it and 11 other tanks was the broadside of a barn, literally. (all 12 tanks on one side, but the "gutter" system on the barn ran into a central pipe that had 6 outlets, each of which branched into a Y to feed 12 tanks.)

Because of the height of the barn, getting up there to clean it would be nearly impossible as often as it would be required... therefore, the farmer just made a filter system to keep anything larger than particulate matter out of the water.

The rain gutters had caps and screens on them, they were one of the first types of "no maintenance" gutters.

I ran out and grabbed a couple qwik pics (yep, that white stuff is indeed snow which is somewhat more than Raleigh, NC usually gets). Anyways, the main line has a 30 gal pre-wash and filtering tank (sediments and dirty roof washout), and another small screen inside the large tank to protect again mosquitoes. After looking around at all the rather "limited" size tanks out there on the markets, I just decided it was more value to execute a DIY "landscape ecomod". Even with 550 gal, it is amazing how quickly the tank can be drained. Regular usage without rain will drain the tank in about 3 weeks. Just depends on how conservative you are (and how thirsty the plants are).

*The two 55gal drums in the background will be eventually converted into composting bins.

Thanks... glad to be here and already learning a lot of new things to try and report on the Sentra.

BTW, what is the trick to getting your white/green ecomod stats posted in your signature? I've looked around and must have overlooked the instructions.

Got a school picked out? Major?

I went to Univ. of Louisville, KY and started in electrical engineering. But then they taught me I didn't know how to add and subtract .... so I switched to Criminology. Good luck, and see you 'round the ecomod forum!

What is the cutoff point for it to say "hypermiler" vs not saying anything... is there anything else that it will say, given a different percentage?

I honestly don't feel like I'm "hypermiling" at all... I just drive normally most of the time.

A good hypermiler/EcoDriver is not so dramatic. The position is to convey one's habits and results in a Scientific manner, separate of one's usual routine -- it must be spelled-out specifically step-by-step for others to learn, repeat, and adapt.

Use the EPA fuel economy figures, calculate that vs. what you attain and (I must stress) back your processes-up with specific procedure and technique. We cannot forge ahead without the use of Scientific Method and proper communication for other to learn and test the techniques for themselves.

One cannot proclaim themselves as a 'Hypermiler' without substantial evidence in support.

Ok - I think you missed the question. I was asking about the "hypermiler" designation in the fuel log display.

Then I noted that I don't feel like I've been doing anything to earn the designation displayed on mine, and asked if there were other designations, and at what percentage it would say something other than "hypermiler" or nothing at all.

Had nothing to do with me personally, except the anecdotal evidence that I don't feel as though I'm really trying to do anything different than I've been most times.
