That is one viewpoint, but then again if there were NO grammar rules and everyone made up their own dialects (even moreso than now) communication could become problematic (even moreso than now). Besides, ya prolly dont really wanna go round soundin liek a dumb hick dooya? Speshly on job interviews vice presidential debates ect.
Ohhhhh... that reminds me of the World Of Corporate Communications. When people grow accustomed to sloppy grammar (or never knew correct grammar in the first place) then immortalize their ignorance in memos, laminated and painted signs, published materials, ETC., talk about EMBARRASSING. "Yes. The company I work for is filled with uneducated dumb***es."
Strangely, back in school I had no interest in English classes, only achieved average grades (in English classes due to severe lack of interest), and felt much like differentpointofview.

LMAO!!!
The reader comments are hilarious too!
Would it be possible to join both the "Typo Eradication Advancement League" AND the "Sterilization Is A Viable Option League"?
Here's but one example of a laminated sign that hung in our Engineering Department for years, and probably is still there today:

That was the work of one of the secretaries. She made up for it, though, by being very, very nice to look at. Pretty much all work stopped when she walked past.

I don't mind typos. Since we're Interwebbin', I don't know if I am conversing with people that have English writing ability, nor do I assume that dexterity problems are not an issue. I've worked with lots of smart people that can't write or speak English very well.
Language is organic/natural/fluid et al. A century from now we'll all sound like Shakespearistas to the new gen, and we'll like it!!!!!

True, but Interwebbin' is casual conversation. When I see a business putting out flyers, sales proposals and signs with obvious grammatical and spelling mistakes, it makes me wonder if they care equally as little about the quality of the service/products they're selling.

Good point. If it was my store, I'd get the spelling right.

That's my point. I don't see how correct grammar matters in everyday conversation.
But don't get me wrong, you do need to know correct English. It's important, but we don't need it for everyday conversations. There's a time and place for everything, and correcting me while I'm just trying to tell John about how kyle somehow flipped a golf cart isn't the time for insanely correct grammatical speech. Tell me that when I'm trying to write a report or making a speech in front of the public.

I seldom do that, and if I do, it's for mistakes that the person makes because they don't understand the word or grammar rule, not because they are typing in a hurry. For instance, somebody saying 'supposably' instead of 'supposedly' is doing so because they don't know the right word. Chances are they'll continue to use that word in their casual and business speech until they're corrected. On the other hand, I'm more liberal with commas than I should be when I'm writing casually, so I don't harp on others for similar mistakes.
Other mistakes I see a lot of on the Internet that grind my gears: mixing up "populace" and "populous", "should of" instead of "should have" and "a myriad of" (even though that has been accepted into the English language, it still irks me.)

Irk. I hate that word.
I'm guilty of the multi-dot sentence ender... (Yeah, that.)
I try to only correct the grammar of the people who are just "doing it wrong". I don't correct everyone, because that obviously only serves to piss people off. I can usually gauge the response I get, and judge from there if the person is open to learning the correct way to do things, or just interested in getting their (rather illiterate, grammatically incorrect) point across.
In the case of the latter, I usually just ignore the problems, make an honest attempt at deciphering what's going on, and make a concerted effort to finish the conversation (not conservation) as quickly as possible, so that I don't have to be further annoyed by a person's blatant disregard for the English language.
