My coffee maker failed after about 8-10 years. So I replaced it.
IIRC I'd paid $3 for it, the new one was tagged at $6.99; but it had a blue tag so it was half off.
In this case inflation ran .50/3 or 16%

Still looking at the local ads paper:
Zero used vehicles for sale:
Only one apartment for rent and it's a 3 bedroom for $3,000 per month.
3 pages of employment ads.

I feel great shame by you bringing this up.
My previous coffee maker was free because my parents gave it to me, and I used it for another decade before it recently failed (and could not be revived by my usual methods).
To get all the features of the one that died, I shamefully paid $90. It does make 2 more cups than the previous one, and it doesn't gurgle so loudly... but they are such simple machines.

My current coffee maker is a Kuerig that was damaged from being left out in a shed all winter (froze and burst a lot of stuff on the inside). I took it appart and sealed it up with about $7 worth of silicone adhesive. We have those cups you can fill yourself and reuse. Our last one was a Percolator. It still works too.

redpoint5 -- Both mine were similar, but 5 cup capacity. The new one is shinier, with less features (timer I never used, don't want to be a slave to the coffee pot. ).

Timer allows me to have coffee ready for my wife before I might be ready to make it for her.
I don't like hot coffee and don't understand how people can drink it without the skin on the roof of their mouth sloughing off while simultaneously killing their taste buds, so adjustable temp is a requirement.
What I'd really pay extra for is a pot that has a capacitor capable of maintaining the time when power goes out. I think I found 1 model with that capability, but it didn't check some other boxes.
My list of requirements isn't long, but it does tend to eliminate most models from consideration.
... I'd like to start daily grinding the coffee. That, and a bit of frothed milk makes a superb cup.

Hot or cold it doesn't seem to age well.
I bought some coffee and found out it was beans, so I ground them. It seems easy to get too coarse or too fine.

Too coarse and it needs to sit in the steeping water a bit otherwise the taste isn't extracted enough (or use a french press), too fine and it gets the bitterness to develop, but that can be mitigated by the small addition of table salt. Better to be too fine.
Chances are if you buy bagged coffee it's at least a month too old and kinda flavorless.
