I have found the duck duck go search functions seem to just search for what they consider to be a key string. In your case " phone" since hardly anyone wants a landline. More annoying, the darn search follows you across platforms. Almost tempted to run google. Naaaah just joking

Have you noticed what it says in the Ecomodder site search box? "ENHANCED BY Google"?

You are right about Duck Duck Go. They just answer the question, whereas Google balances you query against your history or profile or something more obscure.

However my search was within brick and mortar stores, not an online search engine.

Saw the enhanced note. Unsure of my position therein

On your search you didn't indicate whether or not it was standalone stores, but I suspect that wouldn't matter, the scraping algorithm is kinda pervasive.

More annoying is my switch to googlefi phone carrier now resets all my settings every night to restart all the google suite bloatware

Saginaw never had an assembly plant - at least not in the modern era. We did have about a dozen Tier 1 suppliers plus some Tier 2 and 3 suppliers. At the peak in the 70's there were ten of thousands of union auto workers. Today about 4,000 remain. 375 work at Saginaw Metal Casting making engine blocks (peak employment 6,846) and about 3,500 at Nexteer. (Formerly GM's Saginaw Steering Gear, then Delphi Steering, now Nexteer)

No, my desktop could not use the KVM over a normal USB cable and I cannot find a PCI-E USB-C card that supports video.

Also, I wasn't able to plug all of my peripherals into the one KVM port and the 4-port hub, and then my headset didn't work because 4k + 5 peripherals used too many endpoints, a term that was new to me.

I feel like the best solution is to finally find a cheap Office license because everyone with any sense knows that cheap knockoffs just aren't good enough.

Install Office on my laptop, copy over my files, and stop using my desktop?

If I find my USB ethernet adapter with a couple built-in USB ports I could use that, the hub, an HDMI cable, and then with the power cord I would have four things to plug and unplug, but I periodically try to find Office deals.

I am far more confident that I can exchange this KVM for one with HDMI and simplify using 2 machines.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Null_modem#Applications
Quote:
Null modems were commonly used for file transfer between computers, or remote operation. Under the Microsoft Windows operating system, the direct cable connection can be used over a null modem connection. The later versions of MS-DOS were shipped with the InterLnk program. Both pieces of software allow the mapping of a hard disk on one computer as a network drive on the other computer. No Ethernet hardware (such as a network interface card or a modem) is required for this.

We didn't need to buy LapLink?!

The cheap USB-A to USB-C cable is charging my phone just fine. The nice one is working between the KVM switch and my desktop, but I still need to use the HDMI cable.
So, to change computers I press the power button, press the button on the switch, grab the remote, and hit Source, select the other input, Enter, and Exit.
That's much better! 😃

I wonder if anyone has ever made a gaming chair that emulates Captain Picard's command chair.

I would be curious what dedicated controls you could put in smartphones semi-permanently installed in your armrests, but I also like resting my arms on them...

Colamco doesn't allow exchanges and a friend says that she has an available Office license, so despite getting this to work, I think that I will return it.

I just need to pay shipping for a small box, although the $110 switch is significantly larger and heavier than the $20 one.

How much should I offer my friend for her available Office license?
