I generally don't use much heat. For instance, today it was 18F this morning. I had the heat set to full hot and recirculate the whole way, no fan. It kept the windshield defogged. By the time I pulled into work I was a little cool, but I didn't even think to turn on the heat haha. When it gets down to ~0F I definitely start using it though.
On another note, I had a pretty good commute in today. The SG showed me 58.2 mpg.
The trips home have been pretty bad. Its been windy and as mentioned its mostly uphill. Typically I've been getting in the low 40s. I think yesterday I managed 42 mpg. So, it seems I should be averaging around 50 mpg.

You've got access to a plug: got an extra hair dryer? Plug it in for 15 minutes to pre-heat the interior. That's how I heated the ForkenSwift the times I used it in the winter.
I often did the same thing with the Firefly: coolant heater for the car, hair dryer inside for me.
I know I drive more efficiently when I'm comfy warm. When I'm cold, I have less patience behind the wheel (maybe I unconsciously burn more gas to get heat sooner...)

I've used electric space heaters in the car before. Helped clear the windows too.

Its getting cold out, 1F this morning. Thankfully the garage was 18F. I got away with not really using much of any heat again today. I'll probably throw a space heater in the car this weekend. I've done this before too and it is quite nice.
The mileage in was still decent too. The SG said I got 53.7 mpg once I eased into my parking spot at work.
The trip home last night was okay too at 43 mpg.

Ah, warm weather. It was 44F this morning. That made my commute good for 67.1 mpg in today.

I had a decent commute in today. It was 22F out and the roads were still a little sloppy from the snow we got yesterday. That lead to an acceptable 62 mpg commute in.
I was quite surprised yesterday to pull off a 42 mpg trip home. It was the first decent snowfall we've had, so everyone was driving like they've never seen snow before.

The next thing I'd like to do is get my 5A soneil charger installed in the car. I've been topping off the battery every other night or so with a normal charger. This means popping the hood, hooking it it up, selecting the right charge settings, etc. I had the 5A soneil charger on the Paseo when I ran an alternator delete on that car. It worked great. Just plug it in and unplug it in the morning. Its also much more efficient than my other charger when charging, and doesn't have a large standby loss either.
There is still a list of things to do, but thats what is probably next to extend the life of the battery.

And here I thought I was goofy for thinking about dragging my space heater outside for the car...

Pretty decent commute in again this morning considering the temp of 9F out. I managed 60.5 mpg.
