I'm thinking about going just for the good time. My 95 DX can't really compete at 40 mpg. But I would love to be there just for the scene. If anyone wants to carpool and you live in MA let me know and you can hitch a ride with me.

I'll definitely be there. I think that's the weekend before finals for me, but I don't have any major finals this year, so that's not really a big deal.

Anyone who's thinking about coming should definitely think about entering the competition - the drive alone is great, it's basically a scenic tour around the lake. And since you're driving the route solely for MPG, you're more likely to get better results than what you normally get, so even if you "only" get around 40MPG now, you'll most likely do better at the event.

Plus, most of the other people there drive newer cars, and many of them seem shocked that we could get such great mileage out of older cars.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again!

This sounds like a lot of fun! I wouldn't mind a reason to go to New York either. Gonna have to put this on the calendar. Hopefully I can work it out to be up there, no telling what I might have going on at that time.

OEM Insight tires for Darin?

I don't suppose anyone going to this event would happen to have some used OEM Bridgestone Insight (gen. 1) tires they could bring along? I'm interested in finding a set.

Thanks for giving this thread a bump Darin. I'm sorry, I don't have the tires you're looking for, but I do have an ad on Craigslist locally looking for some worn out take off 155/80R13's for this event.

Let's hope it doesn't rain.

Make that two sets of R14 RE92s. If you've got em, bring em. I've been scouring CL for these, and they are harder to find than large sets of deep cycle batteries and VX rims.

Ha, Mike - I was thinking the same thing about the rain.

EcoModder swap meet taking shape! Hopefully someone scores some stuff.

I might need a MKII Jetta or Golf chassis...

Actually, I even if this guy screws me on the title, I can still work it out on my own and make the car legal.

However, I probably (once again) won't make it to the GGP this year.

Maybe we should do a coroplast group buy. Too bad I'm going to need another 4'x8' sheet before the GGP, so I guess I'll go to my local sign shop and pay too much ($25).

Speaking of Coroplast, I noticed today on my family walk (yes, we have family walks) that the local pharmacy's pole-signs were knocked down by the snow plows... I'm going to give them a few more days (they've been down all winter), then I'm going to pick them up.

They look to be about 2'x3' or 2'x4' each, and there's two of them, standard 1/4" thick Coroplast.
