I haven't made any room arrangements yet for Friday night. Is there anyone who'd like to split a room? Where's everyone staying, at the Glen Motor Inn?
Mike

I'm at Motel 6 in Horseheads.
For what it's worth.

I've registered, and I wrote Mr. Gillespie an e-mail about fuelling methods. He says hybrids (and probably any other car with factory MPG instrumentation) don't need to be fueled; we'll use their onboard instrumentation for judging.
McTimson, I'd much rather see an ecomodded, stick shifted car than a bone-stock Yaris. You should take that one if you think it will survive the trip.

I'll sleep in my car. I have a very comfortable setup, really.
Even if we don't all stay at the same place it would still be fun to meet Friday night for dinner or a beer in the evening.

Thanks Bruce. I just checked google maps and that motel is 25 minutes away. But wait, that might be part of your plan in getting the car warmed up before the event.

Agreed Martin, although I'm not sure I can get down there until about 8:00 pm.

That's good news, as this will save time at the pumps.

Ditto, I'm an old schooler at heart [bringing a '77 Datsun B210] and would rather see the older Tercel there. Plus the old cars have no worries when topping up to the rim on the refuels.

Last year we stuck a few people into the Glen Motor Inn. It's where the event starts (registration & departure) the next morning too.
I was planning on staying there again. Will? Ben?

If I take the Tercel, I could get some pretty good mileage out of it, I'm thinking at least 60MPG. But, it would be in the modified category, and it has a much higher breakdown chance. It broke down last year on the way home, and it hasn't seen too many long distance trips lately. But, I have an MPGuino in it, so I can keep track of my mileage on the way.
If I take the Yaris, I would be in category 2 (its EPA combined is 31), and I think I would at least be able to get 45-50MPG out of it. It's an automatic though, so I can only do all the downhill stuff in neutral, not in EOC. But, the breakdown chance is very low, and it looks nicer anyway. I don't have a scangauge yet though, so there's no MPG instrumentation.
I'm leaning towards the Yaris right now, but we'll see.
I think we may go for the $35 option, and bring our own lunch, unless I hear good news from a company I interviewed with before then.

Good luck w/ the job interviews!

I am too. I called tonight for a rate but it was after 6:00 pm so I emailed them. I should hear back tomorrow sometime. I'm in for room sharing.
