One piece definitely looks better!

Why are the sides still two pieces?

The sides are only one piece. They don't cover the entire fog light cover. So it just looks like 2pieces.

Upper grill block v3.1 finally completed!

It's held on by L Bracket and Velcro (so that it's removeable)

Updates: Lower grill block
I definately blocked off too much, engine temps are floating around 195-200F vs. 188F. Radiator fan is coming on more often. I need to trim the lower grill block to let in more air.

Next up: Lower front belly pan.

Don't trim! Take your design and make a mold!

Then build another- this one is perfect, and would work great for winter- don't ruin such excellent craftsmanship!

I meant trimming the LOWER grill block ...its only made out of coroplast...not much "craftmanship" in that

I noticed you said lower, but I didn't realize that was coroplast.

Those temps don't seem bad. The Mustang is comfortable 200-220, and the Insight is comfortable from 200-210. The more lean burn, the lower the temp goes in the Insight, though.

lower belly pan v1.0

Hey everybody, I've been gone a long time! Got laid off so I haven't been driving as much lately. I'm bored now so I back to ecomodding the sti.

Building underbelly tray.

Underside is nearly flat. The perks of buying a sports car!

Materials
2-1/2in aluminum c-channel bars
2 aluminum screen window frames
Speed nuts and screws

Measuring

Trimming

I plan on leaving the exhaust exposed for cooling purposes. I'm going to attach the tray on the outer portions

I added a couple extra bars on top to take into account that the exhaust pipe is not straight.

Eyeballing test fitment

Next up, buying coroplast.

I.also plan on integrating an inner side skirt on here, hence why I'm using c-channel bar to give me more places to screw down the skirt

I suggest you find a way to tuck the leading edge of the coroplast up against the firewall and attach and seal it up the best you can. My first version got some air behind it and was left sitting in the road behind me.

Yes, i definitely should connect the front belly pan with the middle belly plan to smooth the airflow underneath the car.

The sti already comes with a front skid plate that reach stretches from the front bumper to about middle of the front wheels, therefore, there is only about a 6" gap between the front skid plate and the middle belly pan.
