Wow! This is fanastic. It gives me something to strive for in my '05 Colorado. Of course, being 4WD, extended cab and 3.5L will put me at
quite a disadvantage...

BTW, I noticed you don't have the curb weight of your truck listed in your
vehicle description. It's listed as 3028 lbs per this site:
2004 Ford Ranger Specifications

Thanks for the info, I'll put that up. Check out the AeroRanger thread. It talks about the progress on my boattail I just put on. Got 2 test runs in (55 mph and flat, good conditions), both clocked a total of 60 mpg. Which is why I wanted to hear more about the effects of high altitude driving because it seems too improbable. Hearing that news from you though makes me feel a little more grounded in those results though.

That's indeed pretty wild for a truck.

Until this summer, I used to be happy with 43 mpg ... on a diesel station wagon !

It just goes to show what driving style and aero mods can achieve.

Yeah I'm pretty stoked to be getting 43. That was from some tanks of pure commuting. When I did pure HYW test runs, I was clocking in at 48-50 mpg. Then I added a boat tail and did two 80 mile HWY tests and got 59.77 mpg and 60.56 mpg, and now I'm super stoked! But I do think being at 6,500 feet plays a critical role in such high numbers. A wild guess would be that it is equivalent of 48 mpg at sea level. So I'm trying to not set myself up for disappointment when I move to MA this fall.

Makes my mini van seem rather pathetic. So far.

That is awesome! It sounds like those Ranger 4 cyl trucks are quite good. I have a friend that drives a Ranger V6 4X4 and barely gets 20hwy. What is your axle ratio?
