I just looked at how low the pound has gotten. Bad for me (just did the swap) but good for anybody contemplating the swap now!

So much did it cost you, and how much would it cost now?
Now that you have experience, you could help others swap their trannies.

If you want anyone contemplating this can buy my whole car with this already fitted, including a new (10K miles old) lightened SMF and uprated 300lb/ft+ clutch

You would have to deal with the wheel being on the right side of the car though.

Note I tapped "right" and not "correct"

I'll take USD.

In fact the way the GBP is going I'll end up taking unmelted snowballs by the end of the year...

Well, 1150 GBP when I purchased parts was ~$2100 US, Currently $1662, may go lower, who knows.

If any EcoModder wants to do this swap, I'd be glad to provide tech support, and possibly loan tools.

Now he tells me!

If I was going to import a car it would be a Polo TDI (maybe bluemotion, maybe a 4 cylinder)

Oh and for anybody interested the PD 150 clutch is direct drop in, typically holds till 300 Ft/lbs, sometimes further (that's what I got, ryanP sells them for cheap).

Dremd since you are good at it any ideas how and where I could order a 4 speed Perudua kenari transmission, linkages and clutch? They are sold in the UK but I can't for the life of me find a workable way of getting one from a junkyard there to here.
