799.6 to low fuel light.
I took my 5 year old several places for his birthday, so this tank was about 75% @77-79 mph average speed was 59, but that included 2 extended idles in parking lots to discuss our behavior.
I'm really wanting to do some aero mods now, I just drive 2 fast.
I should cross 220,000 miles on this tank.

I've been following the posted speed limit for nearly this entire tank, and it has cooled off enough that the a/c is not required "all the time". So far I am at 825 miles and sill have about 1.5 marks until the low fuel light.

Why so fast?

Why so much idling?

1) 50 mpg is "good enough"
2) 3 people in the car makes 50 mpg like 150 mpgp (miles per gallon per person)
3) It is one of the few ways I can get mom out of the 12-15 mpg BMW (How fast could I drive and still get 12-15 mpg?)
4) Still better than most Prius drivers, smart drivers, and many motorcycles.
5) Bio- Diesel is lower carbon than fossil fuels.
6) at the moment my time is actually valuable.
7) I still get passed by lifted SUV's (I'm guessing single digit fuel economy).

Misbehaving child + irate mother. If I could have handed over $100 and had the issue resolved I would have done it in an instant. Basically the hour or so worth of A/C was worth a lot to me at the time.

In the end all just ways of justifying (need a better word) my wasteful consumption/ endangerment of lives + property.

We will see what difference "normal speeds" make this tank. I'm guessing 20%.

Dremd,

It's not easy being you sometimes. I laughed at your comment about having 100 bucks, funny but true. Money does improve happiness.

So your doing much better on this tank, excellent!

Dave

Yes, in fact I have "overdrive" in 4th, 5th and 6th. Check out the first page or 2 of this thread for more info.

900 mile tank, do I hear 950? 950? That would be about 55 mpg for less than 17 gallons if you have done the vent mod (ventectomy). Very nice! Did you tell us what the highest "posted speed limit" is in your area?

Full tank, "should" be in that range with this driving.

Highest posted limit here is 70, but this tank has been about 1/3 city, 1/3 major high way (interstate, 70 mph), and 1/3 minor highway (state roads 60 or 65 mph).

I'm planning on fulling up with petro diesel as soon as the low fuel light goes on so I can get an estimate on what my other tank mileages are.

Dear non-denominational holy one.

Economy is way up at lower speeds.

940.x miles to low fuel light

Refueled at 945.3 at commercial station (all the way to the top with lots of time to allow foam to settle)

14.784 gallons of dinosaur juice pumped

64.28 MPG

I would estimate that would have been a low-mid 50 mpg's tank prior to mods but that is highly un-scientific. however we can now get a decent idea on fuel economy for previous tanks.
