67 mpg in my crx
at least that is what the gas pump indicated, but I didn't believe it. so I asked my wife, and she admitted putting some gas in the tank, but she doesn't remember how much! so much for adding to my gas log .

Sorry man. If she paid with a credit card and remembers what the price was, you might calculate the amount from the records. The card might even have a record of the price per gallon.

That is funny! The conundrum of someone else putting an unknown amount of gas in your car (happy surprise) vs. having an accurate MPG calculation!

LOLOL. When hurricane Isabel hit here in 2003. I filled every gas can and tank up before the storm got here. With no power for a week, there were very few functional gas stations. I even had some gas for the evacuation shelter, where my wife was working.
Drained the rotten gas out of the neighbors generator and we had the fridge, tv, and a couple of lights working during the blackout.
My wifes always liked to nag me about not knowing what day of the week it was. When I filled her fuel tank from my hoard, she didn't know what day of the week it was either.
Bottom line was she knew what day of the week it was based on her fuel gauge!!!!!! Since she used right at 7 gallons a week consistently, I have never heard her rag on me for not knowing what day of the week it was after that day when I filled her tank up and she didn't know it.
regards
Mech

I loan my car out to friends sometimes because mine gets better mileage and isn't going to leave them stranded, I try to fill it up before they borrow it so I they are starting out with a clean slate, but there have been a few times where I notice I'm going extra far on a tank and figure that someone took my car and put gas in it without telling me.

you could loan car out, but use a locking gas cap, keep the key in the glove box but inside something easy to pass by. then they have to ask for the key and you can make a request for detailed logging.

I finally figured out why my road trip MPG is lower than my commuting MPG with my Mustang. Someone is sneaking into my garage every night and adding a pint of fuel to my Mustang's fuel tank. When I'm on my road trips, he (or she) isn't there to add fuel to my tank.

Pretend you don't know they are doing it, so they keep it up! Fuel prices are on the rise. Free fuel in any quantity gets the ...
