I don't mind putting the incandescent bulbs back in, but any chance you can tell me a little more about what's going on here? Why just those two and not any of the others?

Can't offer a reasoning other than the light might be monitored for failure: if it changes the voltage on the circuit and perhaps causes another warning light to work like the SES light on my VW which is odometer based. You probably could even use a different colored led biased backwards or a common cathode multi colored so normal is green and failure goes red and the mix would be orange.

Well darn, you move to Michigan just months after I move away.
Just caught up on the thread, nice progress on the Aerocivic!

Picked up an undented hood locally for $25. Only problem, it has a hole cut in it for a turbo hood exit, so I'm going to try and weld some sheet metal and sand it smooth, then paint it white. The current hood is pretty rough.

It's on the right [left] side for a '57 Chevy ring sight?

Can't say I understand.
On these older Civics, the engine spins backwards compared with most other engines. The engine is transverse, on the driver side of the bay, and the exhaust comes down in front of the engine and runs under the oil pan. I'm sure there were packaging advantages when you had a carburetor and filter on top of the intake, but to me it made no sense in 2005 when Honda was still selling that engine series.

I think that might've originated in the early days of Honda. The master cylinder on my 75 is on the right (passenger) side even though it's LHD. There is no way the master would fit on the driver side because of how close the engine is to the firewall. Since it was originally RHD they probably just stuck with that orientation. I think the k series engines are on the 'correct' side.

My error, it's a blade sight. The ring sight I remembered was a custom add-on.

It's tough welding sheet metal this thin! Looks like the heat warped it a bit around my weld. It won't be perfect, but it'll do until I can find something a little nicer. Maybe I can come up with a carbon fiber hood somewhere...
