Found some more stuff, but it's starting to get weird, even by my standards.

it almost looks like they used screws to tap into the lugnuts in the picture you quoted earlier about the chute.

Do a forum search using the phrase "pizza pan" to see how you can do it.

Best not to rub on the rubber it's self.

I think some people manage to use plastic zip ties somehow.

zip ties work with coroplast and equal material-ed wheel covers as metal cuts the zip ties off. using zip ties is just cutting 2 holes in the cover per zip tie and just feeding through and tightening down

I found an interesting write-up HERE which seems to be a bit of work and take some welding experience, but I have to admit the final result is pretty amazing. Or you can go the easier and maybe cheaper way (which most, including myself will most likely take) by using pizza pans or coroplast.

Drill into your rims
Zip-ties
This seems like a simple solution

You wil most certainly need some sort retention setup, as if done with Coroplast(very light) will be lifted and overturned by a decent tail wind when your at a stand still. If it is done with light metals you might not need to in that case, a few earth magnets or bungies might help keep it in place for good measure.

Otherwise think about a LSR "drag" or Drift style wing extension more to clean up the rear. How does the rear of your car look underneath(get rid of your parachute).

Upper grill block
Belly pans help regardless. Make access holes for easy maintenance(its not hard). keeps chassis and engine bay clean if done right.
Diffuser with shallow angle of attack
Side skirts/wheel spats
Wing/Tail extension

Splitters are good for easy downforce and traction(increasing RR), not for FE without extensive tests
With the Stang platform, they're just about any number of bolt-ons for your needs

Why would the disk rub on the tire? they're moving together.

The sidewall of the tire deflects on bumps and in turns, and maybe just plain old rotating as the contact patch continuously forms at the bottom from the weight of the car.

The car in the picture you posted will experience neither (read that salt is like driving on compacted snow - hence the massive down force required), but all street cars will.

My neighbor has a +2005 Mustang, so I took a few photos. It appears that half of his chin spoiler pan is missing, and quite a few scrapes under there too.

A chin spoiler here would not deflect air up into the radiator, but would cut down on the air going underneath the car.

Deflection angle restricts how deep one can go.
