You should be able to find a Swift center panel, they are red and can be lit for extra brake

I knew about the red center panel... But i didn't know it was translucent. I actually like the Swift tail lights & dash better than the Metro setup.
Will keep that in mind

LED Headlights

LED headlights are in... and they work Great

PICTURE OF LOW BEAM 6-3wbulbs = 18w per side

Had to spend quite some time t/s why lights wouldn't work properly... and as of now they are patched - Only Low Beam working. I'm working on a fix, and once fixed I will update as the why and hows.

Looks pretty good. I never thought I'd say this (or anyone would say this), but I'm jealous of your Metro.

Well thank you...
But I must admit that I never thought anyone would say that either
Just to be fair, I'm jealous of your mpg

So I finally was able to test and implement my FIX for the LED Headlight Conversion... I wrote a How-To thread on it explaining the why's and hows to make it work properly.

LED Headlight How-To
It's quite interesting if you ask me

3rd brake light update

So it's been a week or so since I've installed the LED 3rd brake light, and I have made three changes to the setup.

1 - Modified wiring to include a brake light controller for added visibility.
This allows it to blink 4 times fast, 4 times slow, and then steady until reset.

2- I added a rubber hose to upper end of bracket to cushion bracket against window and eliminate road vibration chatter against glass.

3- Had to add a ground jumper from main body to hatch door. The 3rd brake light would sometimes come on and and sometimes it would not... T/S and found improper grounding through hinges, and grounding through latch. Jumper wire provides constant ground and eliminated the issue.

3rd brake light mod is now officially compete

Cool Fuel #s In - Let the Mods Begin

So I've already managed to put little over 2,000 miles since engine rebuild, and have gone through 5 tanks, driving until empty and filling up every time and keeping track of all my #s and so on..

And to be honest I'm somewhat disappointed by my baseline results.
So far my overall mpg is 46.7, with a best tank of 50.46.

I know my driving speeds don't help me much, but I was really counting on that 3.52 tranny to push me into mid 50's... But I guess I still don't know if it's really a 3.52 (I haven't lifted it yet to count revs and verify - but that's another story)

I've been somewhat holding back so that I could create a baseline... Well #s are in. It's now time to knock out some of the low hanging fruit and really start getting into it and see what it can do.

I know from the tools provided on this site how that most of my inefficiencies come from aero drag... And since I had some time I decided to go after the biggest bang for my time.

It helps that my parts car already had a kammback

With kammback removed I proceeded to paint both sides

This is my new look

While I was at it I removed the passenger wiper arm

And also removed the "cold-air" section of the intake, this should in theory allow for relatively warmer air intake.

That's all I managed to do to it today. I looked into removing my passenger side mirror and antenna today, but I wasn't sure how I was going to cover the exposed holes. I'll have to see what everyone else is doing for ideas. But I do have a parts car to use as a template so I'll do that at a later time.

The next few things to come will be as mentioned side mirror & antenna delete, but also grill blocks, and headlight covers.

The tail lights are always a problem. What would you think of getting some taillights off a late model Volvo station wagon, those half-crescent ones?

I think if you aligned the bottom to the bumper they would reach about half-way up the Kamm-back. Then you could add bumper guards underneath to 'Kamm-back' the outer corners of the bumper.
