I would participate if I could.

However, the lead time is just impractical for me. Maybe next year if you run it about the same time.

Gah. How does one decide which car to drive...the baby or the work horse?

I will have to explore the page to see how the rankings are decided. I imagine two cars can't be entered by the same person.

Edit:

What's funny is the Mustang would be considered class five or "Exhibition" while the Insight would be considered Class four or "Modified Production" lol.

These are the individual results from last year to give you an idea.

This looks like a lot of fun. not sure I can drag anyone down to be a navigator on a weekday, though.

Another issue of mine. I may be soliciting a co pilot.

It doesn't seem like two people could switch spots for each other- all the cars are on the road at the same time. Each driver needs a dedicated co pilot/navigator.

I still don't see on the site how ranking is concluded. It appears to be just the overall performance per category, rather than comparing to EPA or based off of vehicle data.

I have experience navigating. If needing a copilot is stopping you, i'm up for it. I should be going again this year, but i don't really want to enter my dinged up Insight. I navigated for a few people at a completely different event with good success. It's nice when you have two sets of eyes looking in opposite directions so you can fly through any yield signs .

Gasoline Fumes lives near the event and spectated last year too. Don't let anything stop you from going! It's a lot of fun. The track is featured in the F1 movie Rush.

I would really love to do this. I sent him some questions, I will post when I get a message back.

I am a bit concerned I won't be able to get a co-pilot, is that a non starter if I can NOT get one?

Is E0 fuel available?

How are the rankings decided? Based off of EPA, just the highest MPG by class/division, or based off of vehicle metrics?

I'd be happy to copilot what ever aeromodded contraption you have under wraps, ill even contribute a bit to the entry fee.

E0 is available at certain stations scattered throughout NY. I'd suggest bringing a gas can to top off before the start. Insights compete against Insights, unless it's modified, and then it's in the larger anything goes modified class which includes some serious competition.

I will probably have to do that. I imagine I would get in free with the Insight (boattail, ridiculous front grille blocks, front wheel skirts), but is considered modified production according to their description. But my record with it is only 81 mpg, although that was before the boattail, RE-92s, or front wheel skirts.

The Mustang is exhibition, because the tires are not stock. Not knowing the layout (haven't researched yet), I don't know if I can pull off my highway, or even city mileage with her on these courses, although I am not against crazy P&G which I normally don't do on the highway or city.

I prefer the Mustang, myself, but between possibly paying full price, and being classified as exhibition, I may have to take the Insight. I don't have anything too crazy, just an Insight with some clearly homemade modifications- but I may have to take you up on this offer!
