WTF... $20k...
Kinda pissed now. Was thinking we need a freebeard go-fund-me campaign to raise the relatively modest $5k or so you'd need to purchase at the lower price, combined with the Oregon rebates.

That sucks. Sort of a problem with these credits/rebates whatever, they companies seem to just jack the price that much more in effect taking the credits for themselves. Oregon could offer a $20,000 credit and tomorrow the price would be $30,000.

Exactly my complaint about the $8,000 first time homebuyer refundable tax credit. Just artificially raise the housing market by something approximating that amount while exacerbating the national debt. I took "advantage" of the credit, but I'd have rather it not existed in the first place. Took the IRS 2 years and a dozen snail mail letters to finally give me my money.

Meanwhile, the federal government took away the rebate, and Tesla lowered its price.

I appreciate the thought but a GoFundMe campaign would further expose my identity on Internet.
I'm actually less bothered than I might have thought. It's the same strategy Tesla follows, sell the high end variants to solidify/shake out your supply chain then fill in the high-volume bottom. It looks like Tesla gobbled up Maxwell Technologies and will likely close out the other customers for their dry electrode technology.
The Superbeetle needs the rear fender beading replaced and a rip in the headliner fixed and the unobtainium flow-through interior vent panels found and on and on.... The NADA mid-book is up $200, to $9150 (in my ZIP area), in the last few months. In my dreams I get $12K instead of $6K for it. That way I wouldn't have to sell off a 0-mile stroker 1776 I have on a roll-around stand.
OTOH, I'd likely get out of the chair house more often.

We could set it up to fund with Bitcoin so the gooberment doesn't get wind of the fact that freebeard has an Arcimoto.
Better yet, I'll buy it and let freebeard "borrow" it.

When it turns out you'e not joking, I'll get all choked up.
Meanwhile, here's their FAQ page.

Quote:
If you’re waiting for our base model FUV at the scale production
target price of $11,900, we thank you for your patience and support,
and will hold your place in the queue. The base model FUV is mission
critical for Arcimoto, as we believe the shift to sustainable mobility
will only occur when electric vehicles are affordable for everyone.
In order for Arcimoto to survive and thrive as a clean transportation
venture, we are starting with a single, low-volume, premium FUV
option, the Evergreen. If you reserve an Evergreen, thank you. Not
only will you get an incredibly efficient, insanely fun to drive
electric vehicle this summer, but you will also help pave the way for
all the other FUVs to come.
Think big, drive small, enjoy the ride.
Team Arcimoto

Sounds like they pulled a Tesla and shuffled you to the back of the queue, unless you wanted to be the big spender and get the top trim option.
