More Can-Am than Porsche, right?

I checked the prices, they range from $17.5 to $30k. At least it's a tandem, the Polaris Slingshot is side-by-side. Where the comparison falls apart is the drivetrain.

Can-Am have a 1-liter gas engine and rear-wheel drive. The Arcimoto is front wheel drive with twin electric motors for torque vectoring. I know what my choice would be, but I haven't driven a Spyder.

The Can Am Ryker starts at $8800.

Personally I'm not interested in a 3-wheeler that doesn't lean. Someday I would like to replace my MP3 500 with something like this:

Ryker fails the 'at least it's a tandem' test.

As much as I like the Roadster, I think the 'upper frame' (not a roll cage because lawyers) is more important to me. Leaning no help when you're getting T-boned. I envision a pyramidal anti-intrusion bar on the left. Mount from the right side only.

If the rear wheel tracks the outside front wheel, cornering be like this:

The passenger seat and pegs are a $300 option.

I see the benefit of a 3-wheeler with seatbelts and a roll cage but then it is just a 3 wheeled car to me. If I'm going to sit on top and have all the danger of a motorcycle then I want it to lean and be able to split lanes.

That seat doesn't inspire much confidence. What's it's weight rating? Then subtract the weight of whatever you've got in the tote...

I don't know how comfortable I would feel sitting in that back seat, but if my ex were driving, at least our center-of-gravity should be okay.

The combined weight limit is 449 lbs. (Any combination of rider, passenger, and cargo)

Can Am has made a bunch of accessories so you can have a single, single with backrest, single with top box, double, double with back rest, double with top box, etc. Mix and match.

Personally I love this idea. On most motorcycles passenger seats and luggage capacity are an afterthought at best. This gives the owner the option to tailor the vehicle to their usage.

I was wrong about the price. The seat, grab handles and passenger pegs are $300 but you need to have the "Max Mount" below too. It is $315.

Max Mount casting:

I remember seeing a Piaggio MP3 in my hometown and, even though I can't deny it's somewhat interesting, I'd much rather get a tricycle that doesn't lean. Well, my motivation to get a tricycle would be using it as a car replacement, not as some sort of improved motorcycle.
