Arcimoto won't release 4th quarter 2020 results until the end of the month so production numbers lag a bit. From the 3rd quarter report:

Total revenue in the third quarter of 2020 was $683,895 as compared to revenue of $33,311 for the same period in 2019. The increased revenue in the current year period was due to resuming vehicle production and customer deliveries, including a total of 31 vehicles delivered in the month of September alone. From production start in September 2019, to September 30, 2020, the Company has produced 136 production vehicles in total, up from the 57 produced by December 31, 2019.

Approximately 150 to date. They are on track, with the new manufacturing facility, to produce 50,000 a year. Production numbers are only part of the story. The stock is another.

www.bizjournals.com/portland/news/2021/02/24: ARCIMOTO'S WILD RIDEl
Quote:
“I Pitti the fool who goes short on a sustainable future,” Mark Frohnmayer tweeted on a recent Sunday night.

The Arcimoto Inc. chief executive wasn’t tripped up by spell-check — he was referring to Alex Pitti, who had posted two articles critical of Arcimoto on SeekingAlpha.com, including one that questioned the company’s market capitalization when it topped $1 billion early this month.

Pitti insisted he’s not shorting the stock (Nasdaq: FUV), but the tweet was deft work by Frohnmayer, and not just for the pun.

In fewer than a dozen words he positioned Arcimoto as a target of short sellers, encouraging those who like the company to stick with it if the stock declines, while raising the possibility of a new squeeze play. And he wrapped the suggestive jab in a reminder that the three-wheeled electric vehicle maker is all about saving the world.
Mark Fohnmayer is a cool dude. The article covers his background, and the preteen stock investors and Galileo Russell.

The fact that the future will be different than the present doesn't imply FUV stock is sound.

Smartphones were the future, but RIM hasn't fared well.

Even if trikes can be made profitable and demand is strong enough, there are low barriers to entry for auto manufacturers to jump into the game, and they can leverage their economies of scale and partnerships.

I can't see demand for 50K electric trikes a year. (Can Am sells about 10K of their gas trikes a year)

Can Am probably gets price resistance.*

Last mile delivery is underserved. Had I an FUV...

I could be raking in money as a pizza delivery driver. Curbside, less walking. Of course I'd need to submit to the Panopticon.

*There are three current model lines of Spyders as of 2020, starting at $8,500.00 USD and ranging up to $27,300 USD. [Wikipedia]

How is this great for last mile delivery? To me it seems to have the worst features of a motorcycle and a car.
  • It is open to the air like a motorcycle so you are limited to usage in good weather or it is a miserable experience for the driver.
  • It is almost the size of a car so you can't split lanes like a motorcycle or squeeze into tiny parking spaces.
  • It is legally a motorcycle so you don't get a $7500 tax credit.
  • It costs as much as a car.
I can't see why any enterprising pizza delivery driver would choose an Arcimoto over a used Leaf for 1/2 the price.

Well, the thing is dang fun to drive. Wouldn't feel like work delivering pizzas in an FUV so much. That said, I have all the same criticisms.

It does look fun - for those perfect days when it is not too hot, not too cold, and not raining or snowing.

I can see getting one for fun. A guy in my neighborhood has one and he really likes it. The price isn't that bad either - plenty of motorcycles are $18,000 today.

Lack of ideal temps here is why I rarely use the moonroof, and have no interest in convertibles.
