Awww! How bittersweet is that. I nearly teared up there.
Thanks for the great thread, Ben. You can't read it and NOT want to build an EV. You deserve all the heartiest congratulations.

This isn't going to be like that cell phone commercial where the guy unplugs the cord and everything dies, right?
You ARE going to keep us up on e-mileage, and battery changes, and pack monitors, and all that good stuff, right???
Don't completely unplug the car (some pun intended ): keep the thread plugged in, and check in once in a while with updates!
And yes, Congrats, Ben!!! You made it happen!!!
...now if the rest of us can just find another thread to haunt. E-Neon, anyone???

I am by no means done with the car or this thread.
I gotta keep Christ and the rest of you entertained. I am hoping to keep documenting the Neon conversion and the XR3 when that starts being built.
I am also planning something with bio-fuels, trucks, and EV range-extenders, although I am still not sure what.
I am also intrigued with Pauls Cheap EV controller, and would love to see what else I can contribute to that project, although he has me beat hands-down in terms of electronics knowledge.
I think my strength is in breaking EVs, so maybe he should send me the finished controller to road-test it.

That almost made it seem like you were pushing for a religious bias toward EV's LOL... we know different, but I LOL'd when I saw it, and if I can laugh at my own name, I suppose we all can.
By the way, I'm on that Neon build like flies on... well.. a compost heap. That one is sticking in my side and not letting me forget about my own little EV project (still in the extended planning/data acquisition stage).

You may have to "American-ize" your handle/screen name, just so that MPaul will leave you alone!!!
Right, Chris?
...but then it may be too late...

It seems easy, doesn't it? :P
Doesn't quite work that way though... yea, my given name is Christ-opher... but I can't remember the last time someone called me Chris LOL.
It's not pronounced the same though - it's just Chris w/ a "t" sound at the end... the I is still a short sound.
I digress - Ben, I apologize for the lesson in nomenclature.

You're fine, as long as no one calls you 'Crisp', right?
Ben, where will you post the XR3 thread? Under motorcycles/scooters?
I think there oughtta be a 3 wheeler subheading somewhere....

LOL - my last name is Pettitt, which makes Chris-P (Crispy) very common with people that don't know I don't go by "Chris".
I agree w/ the 3 wheeler heading... there are plenty of examples of 3 wheelers out there, and plenty of m-cycles... I don't think they should be classified together.
