I'm about to order everything at once, but I feel like I'm missing something. My shopping cart includes:

emergency cutoff switch
IN4004 diode
1000 OHM 10w pre-charge resistor
72v contactor (SW200)

FUSES!? What grade would you guys recommend?

Alltrax recommends a 400A fuse with the AXE7245 controller. That's what I use.
One like this: anl 400 fuse | eBay

Don't bother with a fuse holder, and anywhere in the series string will do. Here it is in my car just bolted up wherever:

I have a 400amp fuse that came with the controller, but more specifically I'm talking about the fuses between the 72v key switch and the other fuse (referencing the wiring diagram).

I want to buy extra fuses because, you know, extras are cool to have. But I don't want 5 of the wrong fuses laying around.

I went with some Nissan Leaf batteries. 18 cells.

Right now I'm working on basic wiring. After that I'm ordering the parts to make an arduino based BMS.

You are talking about a fuse on the key switch? that fuse shouldn't need to be more then a 1 amp fuse but Alltrax says to use nothing larger then a 5 amp fuse, that connection on the controller doesn't draw much.

What are you going to do with the emergency cutoff switch? that switch does the same job as the key switch.

Depending on how the key switch works out, I wanted a quick disconnect for emergencies. Something easily accessible. But now that I'm looking at the bike and places to put a big red button, I don't have much room.

Just an update. I'm in the final stages of getting the batteries mounted. I have the cables, 72v contactor, and and everything ready. I'm just going to run to lowes soon, get some longer bolts for the batteries and finish the mount.

I've been slacking on the pics because I'm looking for a new image host. I've ditched dropbox and I want something semi-permanent for the internet.

I'm rigging more stuff up for the battery mount, but right now it's just a matter of cutting three more pieces of metal and bolting it together. It looks slick, but I'll be sure to get some pics. It looks pretty ghetto rigged right now with all the rope and stuff (yeah, rope.)

I also got the battery cables in, so I just need to mount the battery snugly and then wire it and it'll roll.
