Those Motobatt batteries are more expensive then lithium and the largest of them would be at it's limit as far as discharge rates so they would wear out quickly.
So they might work ok for some things but for powering a motorcycle they are going to be disappointing.

yeah, those bats wont work.

An update on what's going on, I was given the green light to return the motor to the company with a 10% restocking fee and I can switch it out for the ME1003. I still come out ahead $$$$$ but I think it's a good choice to switch motors instead of switching controllers or wiring up a converter.

I would agree, good luck with the new motor. Keep us updated.

Updates: Ordered the new mars 1003 motor which WILL work with the controller. It should be here in a few weeks.

I'm also about to order the throttle, but I was wondering if anyone else had any other throttle suggestions instead of the magura twist grip. How is the Magura? Is it sturdy? Will i stand up against the Vegas sun if I leave it outside?

I'm still looking for a battery supplier, but for now I've settled on the CALB or Winston batteries. Definitely staying away from lead acid and sticking with Lifepo4 batteries.

I have a Magura throttle and it feels really solid, they have been making after market twist throttles for motorcycles for years so I should hope that they know how to make them last, your other options are cheap scooter throttles and for the few bucks you save I wouldn't bother taking the risk because all of the scooter throttles I've looked at felt cheap.

Okay, and the throttle is good for the alltrax 7245 up to 72v?

Your alltrax controller should have 4 flat spade terminals and it should have a label stating that it's programed for a 0-5k throttle, if it's lacking the label then check that it has the 4 small 1/4" wide connections, if it's an AXE controller then you can reprogram it to work as a 2 wire 0-5k or a 3 wire where the 3rd wire is Battery + (I think), if instead of having flat connections it's 1/16" round pins then it's an inductive throttle, I've never worked with inductive throttles.

Flat connections for resistive 0-5k throttles like the Magura twist throttle.

Round connections for inductive throttles.

It does have the 4 flat terminals. I remember those. I haven't looked into wiring most of the stuff yet. So the magura grip will work just fine for my needs. I'm going to order one of those while the motor is being shipped.

It's really simple for a motorcycle, you have the key switch, contactor, throttle, a couple of diodes, a couple of fuses, a resister and a controller.

Uggg. Yesterday was a rough day. I was confused a bit by the 5k ohms and thought it wouldnt work.....then I realized that had absolutely nothing to do with the controller or the batteries. I need more sleep.

Ordered the motor, throttle, and once those are in I'll order the batteries. Still shopping around for a good supplier.

This will be my first electrical project. I've had a lot of experience with fixing things mechanically (transmissions, engines, etc...) but this will be my first wiring project. What gauge of wiring would you guys recommend for the main battery setup? (wiring batteries, controller, and throttle)
