I forget the transition from saving a laptop to unsaving a tree stump.

The redneck favorite is to wrap a chain around it, attach it to the bumper of your manly truck, maybe remove the stump, maybe rip off the bumper, etc.

Ideally the chain comes off the stump and flies into your rear window.

When I was in Afghanistan I was on a mission driving a Load Handling System, a flatbed truck about the size of a school bus, except with height and width reversed. Someone got a gun truck stuck and they asked me to pull it out. They already tried with another gun truck, but it wasn't getting anywhere. However, they told me to wait, saying that if my truck got stuck they couldn't pull me out. Eventually they made it work, but the tow chains kept coming loose, and when they did the loose end flew pretty far!
Imagine the damage that could do outside of a barren desert!
[In Arizona it could take out a cactus, but Afghanistan was just sand and dust!]
As I recall I mentioned that I couldn't work on my laptop because I needed to build a ramp and I have been updating.
I got on my laptop this morning and couldn't connect to the Internet. It has the same problem that my old one does and I spent a while trying to resolve that without success.
Have I mentioned not wanting to troubleshoot a brand-new computer?

You've been complaining of a poor internet connection for years. If the issues persist regardless of computer used, then it isn't related to the computers themselves.
The 2 commands I most often use:
ipconfig (is my network adapter getting an IP address from the wifi router)
ping google.com (can I get a response back from an endpoint on the internet, and is the response low latency and consistent)

Troubleshooting resolved the problem when I tried it later, but I am not excited that I needed to deal with this this early. Now that I have Internet:
No Windows, you were unable to solve any problems.
If old Lenovo connected to the wifi, but new Lenovo didn't, the problem is more likely with the new Lenovo.

... if your new laptop has no issues on other WLANs, for instance a coffee shop, then it’s probably an issue with modem, WiFi router, or ISP. If the problem is that you aren’t getting an IP address, I suspect the router.
WiFi routers are notorious for needing to be periodically rebooted. You might set it to reboot every morning at 4am

Brilliant!
Or I set it to reboot at midnight and I say "No Internet?! Aw man! I guess that I will go to bed!"
I don't know how old the router is, but I bought it after I moved here. However, I ordered a new one and an access point for the shed so I do not need to mess with hotspots when using devices.
