Where is the meme about having eight bosses?

Nine posts in one morning? Look how active the board is now!

Honestly I wasn't anticipating feedback. I basically expected to keep a log, but thanks for the suggestions!

Let's go through one by one:

1. Open the laptop, inspect, spread thermal paste everywhere, upgrade the fans if possible, and if necessary backup and reinstall the OS. Whew!
2. Have Lenovo fix the overheating. I do not think that it has happened since I bought the cooler. I do not remember if it crashed early. It seems like Windows clears the logs once I view them.
3. Prepare and reboot from a Linux thumb drive.
4. Reinstall Windows
5. Look up Administrative Events. It shows 4,377 since 8/23.

I went back to Problem Details and it shows 3 crashes in the last few days. On 8/24 it says:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
Code: be
I did not see that on the list that you provided, but this link says “This BSOD will display if a driver attempts to write to a read-only memory segment. BSOD error code 0x000000BE may also show "ATTEMPTED_WRITE_TO_READONLY_MEMORY" on the same blue screen.”
How do you confuse ROM and RAM, Lappy?!
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/win...ode-reference2

On 8/28 it shows 154, which is: Unexpected Store Exception in Windows 10. I don’t see an explanation there, but this says to view the Event Viewer, but I do not see anything more specific. It says to run Windows Memory Diagnostics, but I did that three times without receiving a report.
“Look in Device Manager to see if any devices are marked with the exclamation point.”
There are four!
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/win...tore-exception

Huawei Device Firmware, Surface Integrated Sensor Hub, and Logitech Cordless Device twice, which I am currently using. It said there weren’t any valid drivers. I told it to download the newest one and it said that it couldn’t find any. I went to Logitech’s website, downloaded firmware, and it says “No compatible Logitech receiver was detected.” I unplugged it, plugged it back in, plugged it into a different port, deleted the drivers, and nothing changed.
It still works, though!

For the Huawei Device Firmware it says “This device cannot start.” It says the latest driver is already installed, but why is there an error? I disabled it, scanned for hardware changes, and it rediscovered both(!) of my trackballs and the Huawei device firmware.

It says that it needs to reboot.

It still shows an error. “This device cannot work properly until you restart your computer.”

I did! Work properly!

I have rebooted a couple of times now. At first I thought that I needed to hit the Restart Computer button in that window. It gave me a blue screen for twelve seconds saying “Restarting” and I thought that it was doing something different, but nothing changed!

I tried again and now it says “This device cannot start (Code 10)
Indicates a revision number encountered or specified is not one known by the service. It may be a more recent revision than the service is aware of.

I looked through a few pages and the only solution that I hadn’t already tried was “Run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.” That is supposed to have a Next button. Mine didn’t, but you can also put “msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic” into the search box. It was annoying to need to go through this for each error and then it couldn’t find any solutions.

The same errors that I found in the Device Manager.

Wonderful. I have four errors that I cannot solve.
https://recoverit.wondershare.com/co...-10-error.html

Well, let’s go back to when it crashed today, while it was supposed to be sleeping. Not BlueScreenView, that doesn’t give error codes, but cites that driver for all three crashes.

Trying to find those reports I saw something saying that it needed to finish installing drivers, so I told it to.

The third error is 7A: This BSOD means that the requested page of kernel data from the paging file could not be read into memory. BSOD error code 0x0000007A may also show "KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR" on the same blue screen.

This page says that it can be bad RAM, a bad sector, or a bad hard drive. Thanks for narrowing it down!

A.Run Chkdsk. I already ran SFC /Scannow, but okay. I need to reboot. While I am in the Problem Reports, I see “Memory test results reported” three times under Windows Memory Diagnostic. It says Completion Type: MemTestError, but failed tests, number of bad pages, and test duration in seconds are all zero.
No, it was over 1,800 seconds.
Is there an error or isn’t there?!
I cannot find anything useful on-line.
B. It says to check the event viewer. All that I found indicated that it crashed when I told it to sleep, but that is just a guess.
C.Memory Diagnostics Tool. Did that, but what are the results?!
D.Remove any new hardware. There isn’t any.
https://neosmart.net/wiki/0x0000007a...-inpage-error/

I ran ChkDsk. Is it supposed to tell me anything? It just restarted!

I found the log. It seems like it cleaned stuff, but did not find any actual errors.

6. Should I Remove It. That sounds good, but I cannot try the specific feature without paying $30. It scanned my system and did not find anything actually bad. I searched for the driver updater and I only found good reviews.

I was trying to backup and restore, but in #24 I ran Lenovo Diagnostics and it said that my system failed and said "Test aborted because a system event that could compromise the outcome has happened" for several tests.

I created a restore drive, but it didn't work, and I couldn't boot into Windows. I also could not turn off Lappy, so I opened the case, disconnected the battery, and swapped hard drives with my desktop.

It still crashed and in #34 I followed the directions for that error code.

Today I had a completely different stop code, so I looked up the directions to fix it.

I reinstalled Windows

Reloading everything is a pain! Everyone who told me to do this is a jerk!

Some of my pay may be delayed. I finished my notes, swapped back the SSDs, hit the Novo button, and told it to reload. While I was doing that my supervisor messaged me that she "had to" reject paperwork.

I did everything the way that she has wanted for a couple of years now, but suddenly she has a problem with me referring to data that I gave in the section immediately above without giving at least sixteen points of data all over again--but only on a fraction of my paperwork. I did the exact same thing on the rest and she approved it without a problem.

Windows did not finish reinstalling until almost midnight. As soon as it did I installed Vivaldi, logged into my account, changed my notes, resubmitted, and notified her, but it was already after midnight.

So we will see if she approves it or I need to wait two weeks for that pay.

One of the last things that I did before leaving for my fateful trip to Tucson was reinstall Windows. I am still reinstalling programs, but that and everything else has been a pain because the Internet was horribly slow.

I swear that I posted about slow Internet a couple of years ago. I thought that it was after I bought this laptop because I usually used a desktop before, but I went back at least three years and didn't find anything.

You guys say never ever download third-party utilities, don't even think about it, but I needed to reschedule three appointments because I couldn't video chat. I know that I have had atrociously-slow Internet before, but I do not have any idea what I did about it. I guess that I could have searched on-line, found a bunch of obvious stuff, and hopefully resolved it that way, but I installed Ashampoo's Internet Accelerator 3.

I couldn't stream video in a window before. I just watched two Linus Tech Tips videos at 2x in full screen!

I just wish that I knew what it did!

KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR

The Internet has been slow again and I asked to reschedule a client on Tuesday because we completely lost video. I put my computer to sleep tonight and when I woke it it gave me that error. The first page that I found just said to run ChkDsk /f /r. I did and again it cleaned up stuff, but did not find find any errors.

Is it normal to clean up stuff a few days after reinstalling Windows?

That was an 11-year-old post about Win7, so I found something new. This page says "Set paging file management to Automatic."

Do I just go about my business unless it crashes again?

I have too much to do to keep searching for new suggestions each time that my laptop crashes. I just wanted to do everything that I could before sending off my work computer for a month or two.

I tried to submit a request through Square Trade, but it gave me limited options, and none were correct. I couldn't submit anything, though. I started over and was able to submit a request a different way, but it said "Good news! The product you bought on 08/31/2018 is covered by a one-year Costco concierge warranty! Call them!"

I called, waited on hold, gave Mr. Janelle the same information that I gave online, and eventually he put technical support on the line. I explained the problem and he said that we may need to reinstall Windows.

"I did that a week ago."
"Did you format the hard drive?"
"Yes."

He had me unplug Lappy, shut down, clear the CMOS, plug back in, boot, and install a remote-access program, which seems to have self-destructed.

He ran Lenovo Diagnostics and I told him that I ran that before reinstalling Windows and the error that I got. He said that it sounded like I had bad RAM or my video card was failing, but when he ran those tests everything was fine.

He uninstalled my video drivers and Windows reinstalled them. He checked the device drivers and those four drivers were bad. He tried the same things that I did, didn't fix anything, and then simply removed them.

The two for my trackball are back and bad.

He said "Good news! Everything is fine! You are welcome!"

He did say to download my video drivers directly from Nvidia, but the crashing will continue until morale improves.

I will call back each time she crashes.

Not following closely, did you try removing a stick of RAM yet and see if it runs stable? If it doesn't, swap with the one you removed and see if it runs stable. You're attempting to isolate the bad RAM.

I don't have the problems, but I do have three functional systems and an unknown number of possibly reparable ones.

The 2010 iMac cost me $75.00

I look forward to when the dumb "i" or "mi" prefix is dropped, but that day may be never considering marketing is all about "I" and "Me" and "you deserve", and other such nonsense.

Amazingly, I've managed to only have one "i" product line, iPhones, which have all been company issued. I've been quite impressed with many of the products beginning with the iPod, but they were always overpriced for the features.
