I'm 100% positive they would work beautifully with those skinny B381s. I just don't know how they would be compare to Re92s. I've read that they have comparable rolling resistance IIRC. The thought of losing fuel economy for 30,000+ miles haunts that decision.

One thing I'm hoping to achieve with the spare+Re92 combo is a more even treadwear. Re92s wear out along the outside first on stock Insight rims, no matter what, at least from what info I've gathered from both testimonials and experience. A rim that is 1.5" narrower might help that. We will definitely see when I have a full set.

Best trip mpg so far. This was 100% city with 2 stoplights and 2 stop signs. I had the FCD maxed at 150 mpg for the first mile before one stoplight caught me. Then I messed up a pulse and glide going back home.

I know it's not very impressive for the distance, but it showed me what I have to do to get well over 110 mpg. It ain't easy by no means!

Nothing worthy to post about, but I increased my tire's psi to 70 from 55 yesterday. I feel like it made a slight improvement in rolling resistance.

I've been fortunate to keep my tank average at 68.8 mpg with all my city driving. The only way this is happening is by implementing EOC. With just that, my city mpgs have gone from around 60 to 70+.

The good work will continue I have a 1000+ mile road trip this weekend down to Texas and back. Then next week, I'm going back home to NC to spend my birthday with my family. That's around 1850 miles roundtrip.

(Btw, birthday is the 19th. So, send those presents this way! )

Are you doing EOC by turning the key off or did you install a kill switch? I make a chip that tricks the ECM (when you press a button) into putting the car into Auto-Stop for EOC.

I know you don't have a good IMA battery, but there's a workaround that will allow you to use Auto-Stop (regularly, or with my extra switch) and will also give you Lean Burn.

What you do is you install a clutch switch that tells the car the clutch is engaged to prevent IMA assist. By doing this you can keep the car from trying to use the IMA battery, and therefore the car never learns the IMA is dead, so you don't get a CEL and the IMA light stays off. This unlocks lean burn and Auto-Stop. I can explain this in greater detail if you're interested.

I've been turning the key off to EOC. It is annoying, especially since the Insight's engine takes several seconds to die and I can't turn the key back to ON right away. Gaining over 10 mpg in town is worth it.

I have your chip on my wish list actually Money has been tight, hopefully I can place an order soon.

This is the clutch switch mod, correct? I've read about it numerous times on InsightCentral and is on the to-do list as well (I have a ton of things I want to do with my Insight lol). I'm definitely interested, so give me as much Insight into this mod as you can

Driving so much and being broke might be related. Something to think about...

Me_Andy: That's an understandable conclusion based on all I've said in the thread. But that trip to Texas was paid for by some surprise early birthday money, and it cost only $32 to drive the nearly 1200 miles. What gets me is food, I eat A LOT. That and low pay, loose budgeting practices and student loans along with bills make things harder than it should. Making just over $1000/month doesn't get you anywhere in life.

Luckily, I don't take many long trips. When I do, I hypermile to save even more, plus I learn my car more intimately. It's the non-monetary things that matter most

These are have-to trips though. The Texas one was to deliver my best friend's dog back to her. No partying or wastefulness except Whataburger and the 1850 mile trip is to go back home to be with my family for my birthday. I haven't seen them since October after the hurricane came through and my mama lost her house. It's a need more than a want.

Fordman: I couldn't imagine sir! Heck, 55 mpg or less seems horrible and wasteful to me now lol!
