Thanks FordMan! I had a safe trip up to Kansas City and back. It was a horrible day for driving, with winds blowing 20-40 mph constantly. I still averaged almost 76 mpg for the entire trip.

The window was mine for $92, right at 50% less than a brand new one. It was in really good shape, and now I can drive and not worry about random spring showers soaking the inside of the car!

Ecky, that is amazing, super impressive! This the fuel I need, because I will not be outdone when it comes to mpg!

Let's be fair Ecky, you have lean burn and IMA and AFAIR, all of the stock aero mods. I lack LB, IMA and most of the aero mods. I'm like a fish out of water with my Insight! But I'm making it work

Now for some bad news... while getting the window installed at my buddy's house this past Sunday, I discovered that my driver side front tire had broken a belt! I've been hoping it wouldn't get worse, but the entire tire is on the verge of disintegrating and I have no choice but to keep driving on it I'm hoping I can make it the 1.5 miles to work and get my spare on in the morning.

In accordance to that, I gave Tire Rack $378 for 4 brand new RE92s today. They will be here next week and I can't wait to have them on!

Tires are disintegrating on my car!

Here is the worse one I pulled off this morning. I first noticed a small bubble in the outer edge of this tire's tread Sunday evening, and have driven no more than 20 miles since then.

Close up. Notice how the tire is ripping. It is following the cracking along the outer tread block.

Another close up

The other 2 are my other front tire and driver side rear. The front tire has a small knot like the one above first exhibited. The rear tire is swelling along the inside, where (no surprise) the cracking is. It stretches along maybe 25% of the tire's circumference.

(Yes, this is a copycat post that I also made in Daox's Insight thread)

Lookee what came in the mail yesterday!!!

I'm headed to put them on right after I get this uploaded it will be nice to not drive around with tires that have broken belts lol.

For research purposes, I weighed them on my digital fishing scales. The Re92s weigh in at 12 lbs, 9 ounces.

While I'm at the tire shop, I will also weigh a bare Insight rim and the spare rim!

I got the new tires installed on the Insight this morning. $38 for a local tire shop to mount and balance the set! They even let me watch them install the tires and put up with my special request of weighing different rims and tires They aired them up to 40 for me, but by 5 this afternoon I had the tires up to 55 psi lol!

Odometer reading was 245,360. 103.4 miles into my tank @ 58.9 mpg @ installation.

The tires weighed out amazingly well:
1.25 oz
0!
0.25
0.5

First impressions: Around town, acceleration is lagging. I know this from the slight increase in weight along with the tires "gearing up" the car. They don't roll as good as the old Re92s, but this is to be expected as well. I'm having to be a bit more careful to maintain 60 mpg around town.

As promised, I weighed EVERY different piece of tire and rim so that me and everyone else on here and Insight Central can benefit.

Here are the official weights of tires and rims that are G1 Insight-specific!

New Re92's: 12 pounds, 9 ounces
New Re92's w/ stock rim: 22 pounds, 8 ounces
Worn Re92's: 11 pounds, 4-9 ounces
Worn Re92's w/ stock rim: 21 pounds, 8 ounces
Bare stock rim (No stem or center cap): 10 pounds

Here is a missing piece of info I have searched a long time for. I'm glad we finally have it!

Bare Insight spare rim (14x4): 8 pounds, 10 ounces

Did you go with a larger tire or stay with the current size you had?

I stayed with the stock size, 165/65R14. They are the only Potenza Re92 that is LRR, and by far, hands down, the best tire for the Insight

Following with interest. Those tires look scary. I am glad you got them changed before anything bad happened.

For reference, my RE92's + stock rims (no center caps), probably around a third tread left, weighed in at 21 pounds 15 ounces.

Thank you! I'm glad they are off and very thankful they didn't come apart while I was on the highway.

That sounds about right. All of my worn tires were around 10% or less tread depth on the outside edges, hence the lower weight.

If I had a more time to get tires, I was going to pull the trigger on a set of 145/80R14 Bridgestone B381s from Europe. I would have loved to have seen how well they would compare to Re92s on the Insight

Those sound like they'd be perfect on the space saver rims.
