Yeah, the 132-mph winds, on one of the slopes got my attention. I was born, and grew up out there, and I have no recollection of such events.
During the Civil War, California was hit with a 'biblical' atmospheric river, such that 'Lake Sacramento' was formed, and the state capital had to me moved until the water receded.
I never heard about the hurricane-force winds.

record cold
As the poles warm faster than anywhere else, the polar vortex affects the polar jet stream, which can meander around, bringing intense arctic cold to places not normally visited by such temps.
It's reached the Equator at times.

They are weird with apparently a lot of time to fill. Ever hear of the shipping report fan club?
Since experiencing their roads, I can see the fascination.

The Firesign Theater was right; everything you know is wrong.
Sabine Hossenfelder speaks with the sort of authority that Bill Nye squandered away.

Funny you should mention Bill. I literally just changed tabs from downloading Bill's early work, to checking the forum. Figured my daughters should eventually be familiar with science.
I don't normally enjoy listening to that german gal (not that I'm against Germans or their accents), but I'll give it a try.
