Same video was linked on the other forum I visit, so I started listening last night and fell asleep. Seemed interesting despite my falling asleep, I'll finish listening.

I'm the only one I recall making reference to the outdoor thermostat; mostly with the intent of humorously exposing how insanely difficult such a thing would be. Seeing the concept referred to as the global thermostat is similar.

Anyhow, once humanity obtains the ability to intentionally control the outdoor thermostat, we're going to see disagreements between regions because the "perfect" temperature is subjective. I could see one region attempting to increase temperature while others attempt to decrease it. Who will win the war of control over the outdoor thermostat? Mom's always cold.

Weather.

When something exceeds a threshold never seen in recorded history, it's worth paying attention to, especially like heat records when a planet should be entering an ice age.

You're good with numbers. What effect from 8,500-15,00 tons per day of Carbon Dioxide (using Sulfur Dioxide as a proxy)?

Kīlauea - Volcano Updates | U.S. Geological Survey
4 days agoVolcanic tremor remains above background levels. A sulfur dioxide (SO 2) emission rate of approximately 3,000 tonnes per day (t/d) was measured on January 20, 2023. Rift Zone Observations: No unusual activity has been noted along the East Rift Zone or Southwest Rift Zone; steady rates of ground deformation and seismicity continue along both.

What Is Kilauea's Impact on the Climate? | The New Republic
Though he doesn't have exact measurements, he estimates that Kilauea is emitting around 15,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide per day. (He calculated this based on measurements of sulfur dioxide...

Carbon dioxide emission rate of Kīlauea Volcano: Implications for ...
[1] We report a CO 2 emission rate of 8500 metric tons per day (t d −1) for the summit of Kīlauea Volcano, several times larger than previous estimates. It is based on three sets of measurements over 4 years of synchronous SO 2 emission rates and volcanic CO 2 /SO 2 concentration ratios for the summit correlation spectrometer (COSPEC) traverse.
Plus the 3,00 tons per day of Sulfur Dioxide itself?

Sulfur dioxide initiates global climate change in four ways
Global climate change, prior to the 20th century, appears to have been initiated primarily by major changes in volcanic activity. Sulfur dioxide (SO2) is the most voluminous chemically active gas emitted by volcanoes and is readily oxidized to sulfuric acid normally within weeks. But trace amounts o SO2 exert significant influence on climate.

'what effect'

We'd need to select one of the dozens of general circulation models, input this data, and run it.
NASA's is available to anyone qualified to use it, and they'll also arrange time-sharing on the Pleiades supercomputer.
It's around 36,000-pages of Fortran code as I understand it.
I certainly do not qualify.

We stopped feeding humans to the volcanos, so they have become displeased.

Wel... I'm certainly not going to disagree with Jordan Peterson.

15% more biomass this Century? Deserts are shrinking? Who knew?

Maybe Greta can stop hyperventilating.

The aside on who gets to decide who goes to Mars was interesting.
