Do you like Oregon?
Quote:
The sustained warmth has seen six of the 20 largest fires on record in California all occur this year. In Oregon, the spate of fires burned almost twice the amount of average annual losses in a week.
In California, a prolonged drought over the past decade has killed millions of trees, turning them into potent fuel for the fires. Mountain regions that are normally cooler and wetter have dried out more rapidly in the summer, adding to the potential fuel load.

The wildfires and forests are not a one-dimensional issue/subject, and the people I've heard talk about the recent fires haven't been one-dimensional in blaming climate change. Your hyper-focus on California and general disdain for whatever it is you go on about doesn't help anything in any way, except maybe it helps you feel comfortable.
I lived in the foothills. The power company came through and cut down sick trees. A large percentage of trees in California mountain areas are dead or dying because of the drought, which makes the trees more susceptible to bark beetles.
I used to go to a film festival put on by a forest watch group. They said much ( if not the majority) of the treed land is privately owned by one person. They also talked about clearcutting as seen from above, that you can't tell what's going on from the mountain highways.

Your idiot Governorsaid it was climate change causing the fires.
Trashing California definitely makes me feel better.

Maybe you can find a credible quote that supports your claim?

"US wildfires fuelled by climate change, California **** says"
Climate scientists had forecast that western wildfires would grow in size, scale and impact - but their predictions are coming to fruition faster than expected.

"This is a climate damn emergency," he said. "This is real."

And with your perspective, you're framing it even worse.

Almost two years of damage done in a week!
Would anyone living in Oregon like to comment?

One minute delta.

One might conclude that a six minute delta [03:00 PM—03:07 PM] without a specific call-out was pitched to the prior poster.
Further South it's too hot in Summer, further North it's too cold in Winter. If I need to bug out it will be Boise, Idaho. Idaho was part of the Oregon Territory (1848-1859). Boise was the largest city in the PNW at the time, bigger than Seattle and Portland combined.
A defining feature in State history was the Tillamook Burn (1933-1951).
Quote:
The Tillamook Burn was a series of forest fires in the Northern Oregon Coast Range of Oregon in the United States that destroyed a total area of 350,000 acres (1,400 km2) of old growth timber in what is now known as the Tillamook State Forest. There were four wildfires in this series, which spanned the years of 1933–1951. By association, the name Tillamook Burn also refers to the location of these fires. This event is an important part of the local history of Oregon.
|
This year there were four major fires any two of which equal the Tillamook* Burn.
So you two agree that Knewsome started it?

Especially in the old Climate Consensus thread. "Case closed" and "End of story" are a tell, according to Scott Adams.

Fallacy of the Excluded Middle. "It isn't that, so it has to be the other thing." Accelerationists gonna accelerate. ....with accelerants.
*If vBulletin polices my use of their/they're, why doesn't it know how to spell Tillamook? I mean, really.
edit:
I found this interesting, and somewhat on-topic:
Medieval forests were managed as intensively as the Mayan rainforest.
They were burnt off to facilitate hunting.

Just move with the changing climate! Or hang around and see what the next changes will be.

I'll go to New Mexico. And I'm packing my "failed policies."
I visited a friend in Taos, in the late 80s. The skiing was nice.
I'd build a straw bale house (No, not a StupiDome! Don't even post that ****.)
