And the extreme end of this comparison is the ridiculous (but probably accurate) BMW vs. Prius comparison on Top Gear.

There is massive price different beween the yaris and the insight. The yaris will be cheaper no matter what speed you drive.

The Yaris doesn't have the cargo capacity with the rear seats up, as the Insight.

So far, I will admit that beyond the 50 mph range seems to be the point of diminishing returns for the Insight 5-door. I'm waiting for some decent weather to post some real test results. I'm also told that the vehicle needs to break-in to get its best numbers.

Anyway, it all depends on what you need and how fast you drive.

Good point. Something in the size class of a Prius or Insight will probably get much worse mileage than a Yaris, and be closer in price to the hybrid.
