The Elio is a pretty cool design just not sure how they are able to keep the cost of it at $6,800 USD? The engine itself would then have to be like $300USD not likely. I like there simple website its pretty well done actually.
Anyways enough about the Elio I am enjoying watching the progress on this 3 wheeled CRX. I am looking forward to the finished product and the roll out party!
Good luck the rest of the way,

Are you going to go with Polymetal?

Well for the underbody will go with first the sign cardboard stuff.
Do some testing get it right then go to the polymetal. That stuff is strong and no weight
also got the battery tray added Once All the welding is done more to my home
and stat a little painting on the inside and putting together but first get it running and to stop. Pics soon

I had never heard of the Elio before today...wow! That is going to be so cool if they ever do make production! Too many cool vehicles are either priced so far out of sight or never make production for whatever reason befalls them. I am excited about the Elio though...man i could only imagine that kind of vehicle with a VW Lupo 1.2L turbo diesel! It's got my vote! :{)

The Elio will reportedly have an engine based on the 3-cyl Ford EcoBoost but this one will not be turbo. 70 hp.

groundflyer- How do you plan on registering this thing? As a car or as a motorcycle?
I'm building a similar vehicle, but I was going to make my own swing arm. I haven't really figured out how I'm going to register it without a motorcycle VIN to use.

You use the original VIN and report to the state that the vehicle has been converted to a 3 wheeler. They may require a safety inspection to issue a new title, but the new title will be a MC title. 3 wheelers /are/ motorcycles in almost every state in the US. Most states have a special 'provisional' MC license that allows the hoder to only operate 3 wheeled motorcycles.

How are you gonna do the swing arm? I'd suggest you to do it with a BMW-style single-arm, so it would make easier to change a flat tyre

Imho there are too many side loads for a single sided swingarm. On ours we fabbed one that used 1" heims as pivots.
