i tried one bottle of some brand cognac it was 3 dollars i thought this cant be that bad. i was wrong it was that bad. some of the vodka makes a ok antiseptic . even my father in law who can drink all day and not show any symptoms wouldnt drink that cognac. its been in the cabinet since we where here last time(over a year ago). i would ask them to try it just to see the look i would get but my russian/ukrainian isnt that great.

Well, all I can say is that in Europe, the farther east you go, the stronger the alcohol.
I remember at a dinner party while at a conference in Barcelona the waiters brought us all something in tiny glasses. The Spaniards and French couldn't drink it because it was so strong. The Poles said it's actually quite good. The Russians complained that it tastes like water.

My annoyances from just from the past week:

OH GOD!! Dont start with their expenses. They get paid more in one MONTH than my dad does in one YEAR, yet they still NEED a company car with everything paid for, OH, and a second house, closer to work. In central London. And on top of that, some of their single purchase expenses run more than what my sister AND her fiance earn combined in a month. All they do is sit in a room with 100 others going: "Yeaaaaa" or "Boooo". What a waste of.. everything!

[/sorry, political rant over]

Some student loans being raised to £9000/year. 3 times a much, yet we students wont get 3 times as many resources, lectures or anything..

Drivers who cannot seem to keep a constant speed on a motorway, braking for no reason, then flooring it, then braking for no reason. Then others who decide the best way to overtake an articulated lorry (limited to 56mph) is to overtake at 60mph and cause a massive queue behind them but the road in front is almost empty.

Drivers who, when stuck in hardly/non moving traffic refuse to move over a touch to let me (motorcycle) filter through slowly. Even after a lil beep of the horn/slight rev'.. Caught a SUV's wing mirror when going under 1mph past him, he went furious, i rode off quick.

Drivers who try to join the motorway but are only at 45+/-mph at the end of the slip road.. Dangerous and stupid.

My Mom visited Crimea years ago with a field trip and it was VERY hot. The only thing they had to drink there was champagne - straight from street-side distributors - no water or juice anywhere to be found! She was about 13yo at the time...

im going to crimea in a couple of weeks in laws are there now. and that seems to be true the vodka here are way to strong for me. some of the cognac i like alot, not a big fan of beer but its not bad. but they have some fantastic wine here. i wish i could get these prices at home i would love a good wine with dinner sometimes. on another note it is so much fun going to a pharmacy in ukraine to find cough syrup for my sick wife and only one lady speaks a little english my rough translation let her know what i wanted but she told everybody else to go look at the american.

Scottish gas ate my MPG! I was on for my first ever trip home from work with an AVG of over 80 (!) and then I run into where Scottish Gas have decided (yet again) to dig up the same bit of road they dug up last month causing the same traffic chaos they caused then again too.

Today's annoyance list:
  1. Street lights which stay on during the day. Sometimes it's a faulty light sensor, but sometimes it's a lazy maintainance guy who waits weeks until he decides to fix it.
1a. People who don't turn off the light in front of their house during the day. It's arguable whether those lights should be on for the whole night (I know of neighborhoods which strongly encourage it), but geez, it's not making any difference during the day, except to their electric bill. Getting a light sensor would pay for itself quite quickly. Especially if someone prefers 2x100w instead of a CF.
  2. Stores which keep their doors wide open, spilling all the A/C-ed air right onto the street. And the same stores that keep the doors open during winter.
  3. Drivers who leave only centimeters when passing bicyclists, instead of the 1.5m minimum. Have I already complained about this one? I could do it every other day...
  4. Drivers (and even more often motorcyclists) who deduce that if driving with your lights on is safe, then driving with your high beams is even safer.
