Don't you pretty much have to have OBD2 to run a scan gauge? My car is OBD1 (or 0).

My bad. Yep you can not use a scan gauge but you an use a mpngino. Look in our wiki (top of the page there is a link) it will tell you how to hook one up and set it up.

29.5 is decent - congrats. The car's window sticker EPA highway rating was 27 mpg (US) highway. The "revised" EPA rating is 25 mpg. Combined ratings: 22 (orig) / 19 (new).
Compare Old and New MPG Estimates
As Weather Spotter says, there's more where that came from, with a few more mods!

Actually, here is my car's actual window sticker.
I don't need to remove the wipers, as the hood on this car extends to cover them in the rest position. I should probably install a coolant temperature gauge so I can see how hot the car gets when I'm blocking off holes in the front bumper.
I will also be installing a vacuum gauge (as I really don't have the skills to do the mpguino thing) to monitor throttle input.
I'll report back with my findings.

29.5 isn't decent, it's great! We aren't all starting with Metros. Congratulations on your first hypermiling tank- your mileage is only going to go up.

EOC has become my new toy! Going down hill with the engine off passing 300 - 500 hp SUV's and BMW's with "gravity drive" engaged, using no fuel, is just so satisfying. I feel like a kid in a soapbox derby.

Last week I pulled off my first 400+ mile tank (42.1mpg) in the '07 Fit. I have been trying for this mark since I bought the car (a couple of months ago).
Being that it is summer here in Arkansas, I have to drive with the A/C on constantly which has brought my avg mpg to about 39.xx. So in order to achieve this mileage I took the side mirrors off of my car and just made sure my tires were all at 44psi.
I can't wait to see what kinds of increases I see from more aero mods!

Well... I replaced them with rubber covers seen here --->
I don't advocate driving illegally, which is technically what I am doing by removing both mirrors. I am brainstorming some ideas, such as tiny cameras with LCD's inside the cab.

Most people who delete an outside mirror are using large convex replacement mirrors mounted just inside the glass. There's apparently a decent selection available at Walmart. I'll be doing the same to the passenger side mirror on my Insight at some point.
