Cars should be seen and not heard. Hate loud cars. These F_ck heads that take the mufflers off their motorcycles and ride in groups up and down the road in front of my house all day are just plain annoying. They should get tickets. Yea, its for safety, but yet will not wear a helmet. Theres a scientific name for it - noise pollution.

Oh by the way, what does the Echo get at a constant 65 mph?

uh, okay, no need for the little rant there. I hate loud cars too. Mine is just a tad louder than stock, basically so I can hear the engine to shift (5spd). These echos sound like sewing machines stock. Extremely quiet. And I get upper 30's/low 40's at 65mph. She doesnt like higher speeds unfortunately :/

Good to hear your not echoing off the buildings. I got you confused with the other Echo that has 83 mpg average. I get low to mid 50s in the summer at 65 mph, I haven't gone through a tank yet with the new mods for a winter number.

hey, have you benched this car over the winter? You've dropped off the top 10 list because last fill older than 90 days...

Echo-francis, I was looking at your planned mods, and I saw that you may be considering a straight pipe for an improved rear bellypan. I would strongly advise against this, as I drove my car for a week without the rear muffler, and it was way too loud. A glasspack like I have is a good compromise for sound, weight, and size .

its sure that if it sounds too loud I will not do it but my straight pipe should be 1 or 1.1/4 pipe diameter and I want to try if that make a difference in the sound. if not I will go with a glass pack like you did
