1985 Dodge Colt - $1250 and 57k!

This Dodge Colt was kept in a garage for most of its life and driven short distances - it looks almost new inside and out, has less than 60,000 miles on it, and drives like a charm. I had the catalytic converter changed a month ago and the car passed the smog check, so it's set for the next two years. The registration is good through 2016.
Other pros: it gets about 30mpg, has a CD/tuner/usb/aux connected sound system, the heater works great, and it is a very unique little car! I changed the oil regularly and had new belts, hoses, and fluids put in when I bought the car from its original owner in the Fall of 2013.
The cons: No AC, minor dent/scrape on the front driver's side, needs new axle boots, has an oil leak. The repairs are minor, but I am selling the car because of the lack of AC! $1,250 OBO

(This Colt sounds like the person has owned it for awhile, which is very appealing. Hope this post all works! )

Buy the Rabbit. Did you buy the Rabbit yet? Are you buying the Rabbit right now? haha. That Honda with 120k miles and a new motor scares me - no old Honda should need a motor at 120k miles, and I would take a factory Honda motor with 300k miles on it over any "brand new" rebuild. Honda was still trying to be the Man in the market in the '80s and early '90s, so they put in work and made really good cars. On a low budget like yours I'd look for a '88-'91 Civic, with a 5 speed. Cheap as dirt when you can find one, and if you kill one of those cars, you had to be trying to kill it because they won't die. My '90 has a wasted headgasket, terrifying loud wheel bearings and input shaft bearings, goes through water faster than gas, and still gets me over 260 KMs for $20 worth of overpriced Canadian gas. If I leave it parked for a few days, one of the cylinders gets so much coolant in it that when I start it, it runs on 3 cylinders until it pukes out all the coolant and starts to run on all 4. But it always runs. And parts are dirt cheap for them. If you can do mechanical work yourself, they are pretty much one of the best cheap eco cars you can get.

I haven't seen anything decent in my area for quite a while.

I was just going to post a nice looking 1999 Corolla 5-speed, but I looked up the EPA ratings and was surprised it doesn't qualify:ionly 34 mpg US hwy

1999 honda civic lx - $1500 (snh)

Looking to sell or trade my 1999 Honda civic lx sedan, car is 5speed with 169015 miles which isn't going IP cause I bought a new car and this ones registration has expired. Car needs a tps sensor or a iacv as the idle varies between normal and 1500rpm at a stop, also needs one piece of the exhaust welded but I may have it done before the sale. Ac was also removed at some point in time, other than that this car is solid, good brakes, good tires good radio with aftermarket speakers, skunk2 short shifter, exedy stage 1 clutch grabs nice and isn't too stiff. Title in hand for out of state sale. Looking for 1500 obo or trade for another 5spd car, eg civic preferred but open to anything, and please no rot boxes I have a lot of extras for this car I can include for the right trade.
