Glad it was easy. There are many reports of people asking for deposits back and being denied.

There's a lot of quotable stuff in there but I like this:
Quote:
We currently have a few drivable early prototypes of the Elio, but do not have a full production intent prototype, a final design, a built-out manufacturing facility or manufacturing processes.

...after six years:
Quote:
Elio Motors was formed in October 2009 and we have not yet begun producing or delivering our first vehicle.

...and:
Quote:
As for Elio Motors, it has now raised a total of $75 million...

And is $250 million short of what they need? I zipped through the article, mostly for laughs.
Apparently he always wanted to be a defense contractor.

I find the contrast with Polaris putting its Slingshot on the road without all the fuss and bother very interesting.

Vman455 -- I had that page open before I saw you link and read it after. I thought about quoting it here, but then I thought 'let someone else have it...
What I take away is that it would take 10x the money they have to reach production.
Grant-53 -- Agreed. But then there's Edison and Aptera.

Things are only as complex as a company wants to make it, they could be selling them a couple years back if they had the chinese make it for them or if they sold "kits"
Aptera was much of the same, there was not the will to just get the damn thing selling low volume and ramp up but I have a feeling they know that price and QTY targets will fall very short using low volume approach.
heck, I know a few here that could build an elio in their back yard much faster.
But ah well, nice drama

Probably spending that whole $75 mil. on daily advertising! I don't think Santa Cruz will accept anything less than something like a 750 horse all wheel drive 200 mile per hour Tesla Ludicrous. If Elio went that route - the world would be beating a path to the Elio factory.

I really wish the Elio body would have copied the Aptera. Modifying the Aptera to be narrower in-line seating instead of side by side like Elio would really make the aero force low. Look a lot better too.

The raison d'être of the Aptera was to have the seats side-by-side. The biggest aero improvements on the Elio would be to the front suspension elements and the wheel fairings.
Extending the back if the wheel fairing to a thin edge would be difficult, though when you consider them turning to full steering lock, and when you look at the entry door opening up.
