Notice this Saveiro had been upfitted to also run on CNG, with underbody-mounted tanks.

Found this just down the street. 63 base ty3 variant 3. A Frankenstein from odd parts. Note the 72 fenders. Also note the painted on rust effects

It's actually a Notchback, not a Variant.

I miss my notchback.

Rather than chop the top, someone should section the body and make a reproduction of Ron Courtney's X-51:

The shoe-box Ford top is very similar, excepting the two-piece windshield and big back window. The air scoops at the root of the fins are propitious. It would lose the front and rear trunks. The front and rear valances were '53 Studebaker. I suspect the fins were old car tops turned inside out.

I used to see this car on the streets of McMinnville when I was in high school.

Notchback trunks are about 8" deep.

I still remember those massive tail lights reflected on rainy streets.

Still better than no trunk at all.

If it were done, it would be a show car, not a daily driver. Ron Courtney* did drive it on the street, but it sold to John Corno** in 1974 and now it's in collectors hands. An economical clone would be salutary.

Roof rack and Jim Dandy rack?

*Later on he went to velomobiles.

Corno's would be in business today if John Corno (Jimmy's son) hadn't spent all the money on his automobile collection and other personal perks. He bought his Gina a brand new Corvette for her high school graduation. He kept hiring new accountants, who told him to curtail his spending, and then firing them because he didn't like what they said.
