Yesterday I saw a '73 Beetle with bar grip tires, on the standard 5.60-15 size.

Remember the AutoLatina joint-venture? The Ford Versailles (or Galaxy in Argentina) was a rebadged Volkswagen Santana.

I don't know why, but recently I noticed the Volkswagen Polo Mk.4 is becoming harder to see on the wild here, and the sedan at a faster rate than the hatchback. And that was a good car, it does surprise me Volkswagen didn't even try to sell it in the United States.

From what I saw in Europe, and was pointed out to me here on this site, the polo is a slightly shrunk Golf. Since the pricing and economy weren't that much better, not much point to try and sell it here when hot rod TDI's were the rage. Apparently they were sold here, guy down the street one over has one that he special ordered. Only found out it was truly smaller when I parked next to it.

It's not a slightly shrunk Golf. I remember when the 4th generations of the Golf and the Polo were made in Brazil, and it was quite easier to notice it was not just a shrunken Golf.

Interesting. Are you sure it was neither a grey import or a former test mule?

Grey import?, same model year as my TDI, "Polo" plastic decal instead of "Golf" metal identifier. Owner said he had to order parts from Germany, American parts didn't fit.

I love this conversion!
I’m not sure if the backend is a Morris Minor or possibly a Crosley?
It might even be Australian?
It’s awesome….
