My wife once got into a Passat while visiting her oldest daughter in Ashburn, but her "borrowed" Volvo key would not work in the ignition .

Ever since then she has called them a slightly modified name that puts a n in front of the t and changes the a to an i.

regards
mech

I would hope that in 31 years (1969-2000) they might have fixed some things.

Then again, a complete design change from a rear-engine RWD air-cooled car to a front-engine FWD water-cooled car might be able to fix a whole lot of things...

Not quite as good as 4wd for going, better than 4wd for stopping.
I am in New Mexico, we shouldn't ever need snow and ice tires.

I thought about bringing my snow mobile back with me from maine last summer when I visited. But I though, no, having a snow mobile in NM would be stupid. I could have driven it to work and school for the better part of 2 weeks.

Long-Term Quality Index

Quote:
Most quality studies offered to the general public either focus on initial quality (90 days) or what industry analysts have called long-term quality (3 years to 5 years) which is well out of whack with the average age of today's cars and trucks (11.5 years).

Due to this lack of long-term analysis, an awful lot of vehicles end up receiving recommendations earlier in their life, and then become rolling money pits as they get older. Our goal is to show whether each specific brand and model is indeed living up to their public billing, or simply using clever marketing strategies at the beginning and shafting their customers in the long run.

I would think that would make sense. I have no idea what the numbers are but this is the way I'm thinking about it. The more popular it is, then there were probably a larger amount of them produced, which gives a bigger possibility for things to go wrong.

So if 1 million bettles were produced and 17% of bettles had a problem that would be 170,000 bettles.
While if 100,00 jettas were produced and 17% of jettas had that same problem that would be 17,000 jettas.

I see where you're going with this though.

Good thing the civic Wagon was so unpopular during its time, I plan on keeping mine

As for the fart-fig-noogen, I'll just keep calling them pretty and not buy one.

Thanks,
Victor
