According to their website:
"Production is planned just after the X-PRIZE competition. FVT has the capacity of producing 3000 vehicles in the first year and plans to ramp up."
Any word on when that will happen? I can't afford to keep replacing keyboards because of the drooling every time I see a picture of one!

I am not sure about their production plans -- I met them at the X-Prize and they have an excellent vehicle. I hope they release MPG figures for while the genset is running. 140 miles all-electric is pretty darn good -- they beat Aptera with a very similar sized battery pack.

I sent them an e-mail asking "Now that the X-prize is behind you, when do you plan on going into production?"
Their response was "We are now beginning to bring our technologies to the market, the first of which is our battery management system. Production will still be a few years out but is definitely in the future plans. Might even have a press release in the next few weeks, so make sure you sign up for our newsletter on the website."
So don't hold your breath, it looks like it will be a long time to get to production for a car that was supposed to have a business plan formulated earlier this year.

Some big news about the eVaro:
No prizes, but Canadian firms win anyway | Wheels.ca
Quote:
A North American auto manufacturer with a proposal to build and distribute its plug-in eVaro electric car — which graces the September cover of Popular Mechanics magazine — has approached FVT.
Pratt declined to name the company until a deal is signed, but hinted that an announcement could come sooner than later.
“For our purposes, we wanted to work with a North American company rather than one from offshore,”
