Misfire under load is often the product of worn plugs or wires, as well. My Caravan wouldn't down softy under load, just jerk and sputter until almost WOT, then grab a gear and scream. It had two wires bad. Built two new ones from some I had laying around, didn't have to touch them again the whole time I owned it.

Great find. Great trouble-shooting. I hope you also got a way-cool deal.

That's my biggest complaint with the Insight, too! The driver can easily reach all the windows in the car, so what's the point of power windows?

Btw, I now have a 1/4" drive ratchet, 10mm socket, and extension. There are no more tricky fasteners on the engine. Also, I find 1/4" drive more appropriate to the torque specs.

UFOs can't have roll-up windows! They have to feel high-tech.

The windows are another of my few complaints (along with the lack of door pockets, a trash tray, and a wiper switch that's too easy to hit by accident - really MAJOR complaints, you know :-)). Not so much that they're power, but the way that the driver's side one goes up & down on its own if you touch the switch the wrong way.

I suppose it would be silly to try to convert to wind-ups, but I have found myself wondering how complicated it would be.

Update: mechanical inspection scheduled for Thursday morning.

Amen, Brother!! When I test drove my car, the window rolled down, but not up!! I made the lady give me another $100 off the price. I tore the door panel apart and put 12V directly to the motor and the window rolled up. There must be some kind of limit switch that has failed. Or perhaps it is just the main switch. For now, the window stays UP!!
My 1988 CRX had manual windows. I wonder if the mechanism could be transfered to the Insight?

This is why I bought the fully manual everything DX. Good luck.

Lol - Want manual windows in your power window vehicle?

1. Get a windup flashlight
2. Build a circuit so it makes 12vdc output.
3. Put a crank on the wind up generator, and bolt the assembly to a convenient spot in the door.
4. Wire in a dpdt switch to the motor, from the generator's circuitry.
5. Flip switch and crank like a mo fo...

Crank up/down windows! Brilliant!
