The steady wind here died down during the eclipse and the cumulus clouds faded away. A cumulo-nimbus that was building off on the horizon kept building, but at a slower rate. Afterwards, the winds gradually resumed and the buzzards waited for the thermals to restart before launching from the power towers. Cumulus clouds started reappearing 2 hours after totality.

We were in Madras, Oregon and had a great show. I loved how the light changed rapidly and felt like evening. The temperature dropped gradually then rapidly, it raised the same way after totality passed. During totality we could look at the horizon in all directions and see lighter skies. 2024 is not that far away.

A little reminder to everyone in the northern hemisphere: this is the time to do winter mods like block heaters and seat heaters. Waiting until it's already cold is no fun.

Belated happy solstice & perihelion!
Happy notable astronomical event named after a car, everyone!
(Why hasn't there been a car called Perihelion? Alliteration ususally works. Let's see... Pontiac Perihelion? Nope, brand's gone. Plymouth! Nope, gone. Packard! Nope! And now I'm drawing a blank on more P names.)

CRAP! If only I'd paid attention to your message back then. Now I'm trying to figure out if/when I'm going to get the coolant heater into the Metro this winter.
