my bad i didn't do my homework

fabrio.-interesting idea on the glow plugs in the coolant. that's a new one. the glow plugs draw 9 amps each.

the diesel having no throttle plate pumps so much cool air through at light load that it cools the engine off going down hills.

The glow plugs in an aluminium block with coolant passing through is nothing new
I was testing one at -30 degrees C about 10 years ago.
Didn't make much difference to engine warmup time on a 1.8 turbo diesel Focus running in a climatic windtunnel.

IIRC The tips of the glow plugs should not go into the coolant or there'll be localised boiling & corrosion of the tips. They should be seated against the aluminium close to the coolant passage..... However this picture shows otherwise (veg oil heater for SVO)

Note the thermistor clamped on the side to regulate the temperature. That probably solves the problem

Hi boys.

I have inquired: the GLOW PLUGS would have to be from 170W.

Not from free air intake that the diesel is more coold than the gasoline, but for the different
efficiency

there is the sec filing for that turbolator device. It has the carb # and some other info that might lead to finding the actual results of the epa test for anyone that is curious. I wasn't able to find anything but I didn't look very hard really.

I've heard of this product for a few years, but no results! Perhaps an adjustable potato in the tailpipe could yield some similarity.

Honestly, I crave data on this...

diesel john, why the flapper? I thought about a drilled one to help with low end torque, but after all the reading I did I don't think it would do any good...

I too have pondered this question and wondered how one could scavenge the exhaust heat to speed warmup.

However there's also another ready source of heat in a car: the brakes. I wonder if there's some way to build a heat exchanger to take advantage of that heat.
