I thought it odd, that I live in Ohio, and a quick Google of the term came up with something from Ohio. Anyway, I concur...

Bunches of things I've tried, depending on what I'm driving. I rarely have tailgaters when I'm in my Neon. Except on my drive to work in the mountain pass we drive daily... I don't really mind them stacking up behind me when I've left a resonable gap in front of me. We have deer in the pass, the random escaped bovine (usually black and in the dark), wild turkey (feathered, not in the bottle), coyotes and other critters that feel the need to jump in front of traffic.

In the Neon, I slow some, or spray the windshield, lightly tap the brakes to get the lights on. I just don't understand why the tailgating... In a long string of cars on two lane twisty, there just isn't any place to pass and no way to imtimadate me into going faster than the car in front of me and my safety cushion. I don't swerve for rabbits, but will for anything else.

In my Grand Cherokee. the rear window sprayer is "broken" and sprays straight back. OK, I broke it. I can straddle things folks behind me can't. (knowing where my differentials are is a big plus for this one, but then I do offroad and some rock crawling...) Light stabs of the brake work well. Taking my foot off the gas works quite well with the ZJ, it is almost better than tapping the brakes. And well, I have backup lights in addition to those from the factory. Believe me, that gets their attention. Not to mention there is a towhook in my receiver hitch, pointing up.

In my fullsize truck, I just ignore most tailgaters. I also leave the hitch in the receiver. If they hit that, they might get a free ride...

Bumper sticker

My new bumper sticker works wonder for tailgaters. The best $5 I ever spent. That's polite way of saying "get off my ass"http://images8.cafepress.com/product...x350_Front.jpg

I saw that sticker. That site is awesome!

Now I just speed up since gas is so darn cheap!

Although I did spray my friend with my rear washer nozzle when he was behind me haha.

Yup, eco-driving a diesel is great for accumulating some soot for deploying at a suitable time...

oil on windscreen

I prefer to carry a Supersoaker type watercannon filled with veg. oil. Roll your drivers window down slightly and place the tip of the oil gun out the window(careful not to look like you have a real weapon) and spray a little oil into the air passing by. Some will land on the tailgaters windshield and appear to be water drops. When enough oil causes the tailgater to activate their windshield washer, the oil will spread and create a sheen that the driver cannot see through - problem solved. Use with caution!
